As I’m starting to explore updated areas, it is rather disheartening to see that the World Updates are still not doing anything in regards to the morphing. Here’s a gnarly example from the Faroe Islands.
As usual, the closer you get, the more intense the pop-in becomes, which is the exact opposite of what a proper LOD system should be doing. This really ruins the immersion when flying low and slow.
I continue to insist that the problems get worse with World Updates, rather than better as stated in the Feedback Snapshot for a very long while now.
At this rate it will take decades until the entire world has perfect data, so I hope that Asobo will reconsider their decision not to rework the coastline correction algorithm. We know that FS2024 will feature AI-enhanced ground detail, so perhaps they could delegate the coastline correction to AI as well? Since it is done locally, it could make use of the NPUs that future CPUs will be coming with.
