[BUG LOGGED] WU6 and night lighting broken

I wonder what kind of environment Asobo works in? Imagine it would be difficult to test night scenes in brightly lit offices.

i have the exact same problem, if i go to renderscale 100, its 1080p, which looks really bad graphically. Bummer.

Yeah, I took off from DFW last night and it looked like a zombie apocalypse had occurred. No traffic, no lighting to speak of, but a fully visible star field (lol.) But then in top-down external view, I could seen a floating layer of lit squares way way above the ground and way too big. Just a garbage experience, unfortunately.

I see that asobo still has problem with rendering scale. I had similar issue with light indicators in user lights while in developer mode but looks same in the end. I had to put render scaling to 100 for it to work.
For comparison. The issues i had with lights in April

I was just providing a potential workaround for your problem until Asobo fixes this.

If you can’t play at 100% render scale with acceptable performance, you need a more powerful graphics card. Anything less than 100% is cutting image quality.

Hopefully a hot fix won’t be too long for this as on Xbox we can’t change the render scale so night flights at the moment are a no go.

That’s shocking…. So the lights don’t work on Xbox?

First time?

WE DON’T DO THAT HERE

Nope, night flights are out of the question at the moment

my bad then

Nice :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
You deserve Asobo bugs Nobel price :joy:

@Jummivana Hi Jayne is there an expected hot fix date for this issue? Currently all Xbox users can’t fly at night due to this bug

We remember each and every update with a flag carrier bug, seems like it’s the night lights floating for the WU:6.

I’m sure a hotfix is underway to come out real soon.

Lets hope so, I’m aware that the issue is fixed easily on PC, but no option to change render scale on Xbox.

Also discovered floating light maps in the air, looks horrible…

It’s not very noticeable really as long as you stay above 70%. It’s a good way to increase performance without dragging things down to high or medium. The visual impact is way less than making the clouds or buildings uglier.

Workarounds for this are worse than the issue itself, that’s why i think they should give a hot fix for this.

Render scaling is a valid way to tweak your settings, you don’t have to buy a better graphics card if you use the setting haha.

The only card that can run this Ultra 4K with an acceptable framerate (for me personally) is probably the 3080Ti/3090. Those cards are a bit steep now. So that’s why i turn the render scaling down a bit to make it smooth but it still looks great.

The 1080ti pulls it off with a (for me) acceptable 29 fps

I have a 2080, often it will reach 35 fps but on the ground at the bigger airports/cities it’s around 25fps, which i think is a bit too choppy when using TrackIR to look around in the cockpit.

Any more news on this.

I think the community can be a little impatient here as it worked absolutely fine prior to the update. Console players are totally stuffed with night time flights. The world is almost in total blackout.

I am concerned just how long a fix might take.

Hi @blue166,
We don’t have a time frame indicated at this point, but I can tell you this topic and it’s duplicate https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/bug-logged-1-19-8-0-light-bug-at-night-pc/449825 have been pushed to the developers.

EDIT: The link I posted above has now been merged into this topic.
