Looking to have fun on a Friday night? Come join us for some bush flying in the jungle of West Papua? Ever seen YouTube videos by Missionary Bush Pilot? We’ll doing the same thing! We have a challenging flight up ahead, with 6 “easy”, 3 “challenging” and 2 “heart-pounding” landings in the jungle! Don’t worry about crashing. It is highly recommended that you disable crashes as you won’t be the only one crashing. By the end of the night, you’ll have improved your landing skills.

FLIGHT DETAILS

SizzlingPopcorn will be hosting the event. Credit goes to GunPilot for creating the flight plan and the notes. We will start at WABT - Enarotali on route to WAVT - Tiom . On our journey, we will land at several short runways with varying levels of difficulty. Each airstrip on the flight plan will be a landing spot.

To use the flight plan, follow these steps:

-Download the flight plan to a easy-to-remember location
-Open MSFS
-Go to the globe
-Click “Load/Save” on the bottom of your screen
-Click “Load”
-Navigate to the downloaded flight plan
-Click load.

WEATHER
We will use custom weather.

MULTIPLAYER SETTINGS
Please adhere to the following settings so you can see everyone / be seen by everyone.

Variable - Setting
Server SOUTH-EAST ASIA
Multiplayer All
Live traffic As desired
Weather Few Clouds

COMMUNICATION
To communicate with others, a voice channel on the "Sizzling Nation Discord” at https://discord.gg/r5tmFRs will be available to join. You can also follow along, with a slight delay, through the YouTube stream: http://bit.ly/BushPNG .

It is advised in this flight to turn off both aircraft collisions and terrain collisions. If you do crash, you can use the “slew” mode to join the pack.

This is event is open to everyone of all skill levels and is meant to be a fun event to meet other sim pilots.

We highly recommended to using the Grand Caravan mod, which improves the handling and performance.

Note that this mod is in development and may stop working after sim updates. Up to date versions can be found here: https://github.com/Exp232/C208-MSFS2020-Fix

If you notice that this modded version or the standard C208 has poor speed and climb performance, toggle your Spoilers with your assigned control. The C208 has invisible, faked spoilers by default that slow down the aircraft!

I saw the details of the flight, and was just about to post about this mod. The default C208 also has very poor, near non-functional reversers, and I feel we are going to need those. :slight_smile:

It might also be worth reminding everyone to enable “Use Generic Plane Models” for both AI, and Multiplayer aircraft, if you want to avoid losing your avionics mid flight.

I just came across “Missionary Bush Pilot” Youtube channel the other day. Some really cool videos. I have 25 yrs in the airline industry and you couldn’t pay me enough to do what he does. Now thats some flying! Great idea, don’t forget to look for those missing downed aircraft from WWII.

Yes, tonight. The date is correct. I just forgot to change Wednesday to Friday from our last event. :slight_smile:

caravan are fun, but in papua have so many smallest airports to fly that comports only savage club or VL3 and similars,

The flight plan has been tested and the Caravan is the best one to use to land as it has a very low stall speed.

I’m not at my PC right now, but one of the paved strips has a runway 9 that is at the very top of a small hill. I attempted a first time landing there, on my own as I didn’t have time to make the group flight, and didn’t know you should come in on 27.

I was fairly low, and approaching that hill, and still couldn’t see the runway. I knew it had to be on the other side of the hill, so as I slowly crested it, it suddenly dawned on me I had made a horrible mistake. :joy:
