Bush Trip NAVLOG Text Files

Can anyone inform me where I can locate the text files that are used in the Bush Trip NAV LOG. When MSFS first came out I was working my way through the Nevada bush trip but after leg 13 the NAV LOG was always empty and I was not the only person with this problem. I never managed to find a fix and just gave up on bush trips.

Decided to have another go starting with the France bush trip. Leg 1 was fine but when starting Leg the NAV LOG window seemed to have reference to the text rather than the actual text. So instead telling me what to do and what to look for it says something like
MISSION.FRANCE.NAVDATA_02_01
MISSION.FRANCE.NAVDATA_02_02
and so on

I found a link where I was able to download zip file containing text files of some of the bush trips including France and so far this in main solves the problem.

So I would like to find out where this text is located for all the bust trips so I can get prints of them. I suspect they would be a text file for each step within a leg so I would need to pull them all together in a single file for each bush trip which is fine.

Any help greatly appreciated

What I had to do is re-fly the previous leg that showed up correctly in the Navlog. After that, the rest showed up fine. I’ve had to do this “trick” on two of the Bush trips.

Also, make double sure you’re landing at each of the required airports. If you miss one it’ll screw everything up.

Thanks for the hint

Actually I am just going to abandon bush trips as I now realise I have a show stopper of a problem in that it is not registering my legs as completed even though it says it has, another common problem is see repeatedly being raised.

I tried performing the first leg 2 or 3 times and what happens is when I complete Leg 1 I get confirmation I have successfully completed leg 1. If I select “NEXT” to immediately fly the next leg I get the problem I described above. If I exit from MSFS completely when I go back in I am back at the beginning of the bush trip. Completed France bush trip legs 1 and 2 both confirmed as successfully completed and now when I went back in I am back at the beginning of Leg 1

Too much hassle

Welcome to Microsoft’s beta tester program.

Exactly !! I am just grateful I am not plagued with CTD s I will go back to planning my own flights and try again in 6 months

For e.g. bush trip alaska

go to
\Official\OneStore\Asobo-bushtrip-alaska
in notepad open file .locPak

Thanks for you help

You’re welcome

You don’t need to log out of MSFS completely.

Don’t click next - go back to menu and then go back in and start at next leg.

Same issue on the log book - if you do a series of legs, it only saves the last leg in the log book, you lose all the time on the previous legs.

Where are the text files located? If only it was that simple!

I managed to create text extracts for the official trips pre the Nordic release with plenty of sweat and tears . You can find them on flightsim.to here https://flightsim.to/file/14332/text-extracts-for-the-official-bush-trips

More recently the Nordic trips have been added. More tears as Asobo have tweaked the bush trip flight plan formats! They’re here: https://flightsim.to/file/16667/nordic-bush-trip-navlog-extracts

Thank you for that I had already downloaded the original bush trip text file and was struggling my way through Sweden bush trip trying to create a workable text document so I know how much tears are involved.

I think the bush trips are a great way for the developers to show off scenery but I just wish they put the effort into them to make them robust and stable.

My biggest problem it does not save legs for me even though it comes up as competed successfully when I go back in I am back at the beginning of leg 1.

I have found a really messy work around that allows me to get past this where I have to copy and rename the saved files at end of a leg and load the FLT from main menu rather than go in through Bust Trip menu. So far I am on Leg 4 of the Sweden Bush trip and it remains to be seen if it recognises that I have completed the Bush Trip at the end. But at least I can fly the legs.

Thanks again for NAVLOG text

Thanks for providing this! I much prefer a separate document over the navlog, not in the least because is not always complete. (This happened to me after quitting MSFS while the leg was not completed, you can continue with the leg, but the navlog was not complete.)

Might I ask, why are the Word documents so large (30 Mb)? They only contain a bit of text and a view small pictures.

Pleased to hear that the navlog extracts are proving useful. As regards the word doc file size, most of the size is down to the images and that’s because the program I wrote just copies the images from the bush trip images folder and embeds them as they are in the word doc. You can find the images folder within each bush trip.

I had thought of opening each image and saving it at a lower resolution (probably converting from png to jpg as well) but was put off by the manual effort involved. Now that you’ve raised the point I’ll look into the possibility of a batch resize of all images in a folder. That should be feasible and would reduce the word doc sizes significantly, so thanks for making me think!
