I was unsure whether I should ask here or in the VR category, but since it is a settings issue I’ll try here first. It worries me that I read posts about this going back as far as '21.
I flew two legs of the Norway Bushtrip yesterday. And I get that it is supposed to be a challenge, but to me it was rather pointless as I could not get any POIs to display. Not on the map and not as the floating blue dots over the landscape. I get that these might be immersion breaking for some people, but personally, I don’t see the point of flying in VR without them. I fly these as much for sightseeing as for the “challenge” of getting to where ever I need to go (with a purple line telling me exactly where I am and where I need to go, and autopilot, it is hardly that difficult, but that might be a flight aid without me knowing about it).
I could fly from the south to the far north of Norway and not know the name of a single place that I fly over.
Can I turn on the blue bubbles?
A second annoyance… How do I access the top floating menu in VR? Not possible? Flow works, but only just (it is inside a big floating square window).
Is it not possible to decide one’s own weather for bush trips? I am flying in Norway atm and seeing as it is winter I’d like it to be snowy, but the weather menu is not there. Also setting the time to “evening” would add a bit of a challenge (I am not into night flying, if I can’t see the scenery then whats the point ;))
I don’t know about your POIs in VR question (for sure someone else will help on this), but about the weather I can confirm there is no control over it (and I think same for the time) in the Bush Trips.
Nevertheless, there are wishlist items:
Which Norway trip do you mean? The weather and time can be set for the trip from Spitsbergen to Norway. There is also the option of making waypoints visible in the options (“Route and waypoints” option). Asobo has blocked these options for bush trips for a long time, which is why they are not available in older BTs.
POIs are generally not available in BTs. I therefore recommend using Little NavMap as an alternative to the VFR map.
So you mean that Asobo has unlock the Weather/Time/POIs features so the Devs that develop Bush Trips can decide if they’ll allow or not users to change those 3 parameters ?
Hmmm … How am I supposed to understand that? There are 2 assertions in this question, which as a question are more of a provocation
But well: Two of these functions (weather and time) were not available to the developers of BTs for a long time and POIs are still not available today, as I mentioned above.
I can only partially agree with your second assertion. The developer of BTs can decide whether these functions are available to the user or not. However, to make them usable in older BTs, these would have to be updated.
What your question is probably aimed at is the reason why Asobo has made these functions available. Unfortunately, I cannot give you a clear answer to this question. Perhaps they have actually complied with the wishes of many users.
If that was not the purpose of your question, please ask it more clearly.
Thank you for your clear answer and not my intention to provoque, apologize . Just wanted to have the confirmation that Asobo unlocked Weather/Time (I understand POIs not) only to the Bush Trips Devs and it is up to them to decide if they give or not the option to the users to modify those 2 parameters. So that people who requested the 2 wishlist items I am referring to in my above post and the ones that are using Bush Trips understand why in some Bush Trips they can modify those parameters and in some others they cannot.
POIs are used to display place names, airports, flora and fauna and places of interest by name. For free flights, you can switch them on or off in the options.
You can use MissionChanger to change the aircraft, weather and time to all bush trips. I set all of my bush trips to “Weather can be live” and “Use live weather”. When I pull down the menu, I can then choose the weather Icon and change the time and type of weather I want to fly in. If I don’t make changes, it will use the live weather. I can also change the time. I used it to fly an Alaskan bush trip I purchased to live weather and it definitely added a new (realistic) twist on flying across Alaska. Most bush trips I will fly it the way the designer intended it to be flown. If I enjoyed the trip, I’ll change it to my preferred aircraft and live weather. https://www.bushtripinjector.de/mission-changer/
Yes. I found that addon as well. Thank you @LonghornRam . I’ll give it a go. I am not a fan of night flying, but I really like late evening. And some snow would be nice these days as it is most definitely winter here in south eastern Norway these days with -15C this morning.
Installed Mission Changer yesterday, and This was just what I wanted. I flew across a frozen wintery Norway. And given that I can feel the chill of Oslo at -13C coming through the wall where my sim rig is placed I got total immersion
Now if I could only have POIs displayed I would know what I am flying over as well. I don’t know the name of a single town I passed yesterday. Kind of defeats the purpose of a sightseeing tour. Was that a choice in mission changer? I couldn’t see it…
