Buying 787 individually

Asobo is not the first to do this marketing strategy.

Most games with premium versions work this way. To be able to upgrade to premium, you basically have to pay the full price as you would if you did buy premium in the first place.

This teaches us, the buyers, to always buy the most expensive version of games at launch.

If there wouldn’t have been the FLIGHT fiasco after FSX, I would have bought the premium deluxe version at once.

You pay way more than that in P3D and X-Plane and it still doesn’t look as good.

Last I checked, x-plane was $60. Plus the Magknight 787 at $45.

Although it would not make sense to do all that for one aircraft…

Well if you don’t read the small print, thats on you. Ethical pricing issues aside, If you really want to fly a 787 you would be better off holding out for dreamwings imho.

Hellooo

Just a question for you guys, cause I was wondering if anyone has any idea’s about it. Do you guys think Asobo/Microsoft will ever sell the 787 seperately for people who don’t own the premium deluxe? The 787 seems to get quite some good updates to it and especially with the updates that are planned it looks like a quite solid plane to fly. But as I don’t own the premium deluxe bundle I can’t fly it atm. I know I can buy the premium deluxe bundle in the marketplace but that costs €85 which is just ridiculous. So I was thinking maybe they said it will be sold seperately in the future, but if it doesn’t I might end up buying the bundle anyway lol

No it won’t. People have requested this since the beginning.

Just think, it wasn’t that long ago that we had no choice but accept PMDG pricing, and this would have been cheap. Look how far we’ve come.

To be fair, that’s the nature of the software bundle. You bring out a pack with a load of additional features, even if there are only one or two that are actually worthwhile getting, and you sell that pack at a premium.

I decided to buy the Premium Deluxe pack back in 2020 for that reason. It is never cost effective to get a lower tier, then upgrade.

A few years ago I wasn’t a big fan of flight sim, just did a flight every now and then so I’ve made the choice back then to just take the standard edition. But since the AAU updates the 787 becomes somewhat more relevant so I hoped there was any chance to get it a little bit cheaper then €85, but I get your point. Well I’ll just end up buying the upgrade then lol

Don’t forget you get the bonus price reduction to first party aircraft too.

To be fair it was kind of a waiting game. Waiting for a TPD to make a “study level” 787, and nobody approached it, at least openly. Now its getting some attention, it’s increasingly unlikely we’ll ever see a third party one.

Unless it was a port from an existing portfolio perhaps. I don’t think PMDG make one, and taking a look at the X-Plane store there is only one, by Magknight, that might fit the bill.

I occasionally look over there, and I see so many developers, most of which I’ve never even heard of. I would have thought the lure of a larger marketplace would have brought more of them over by now.

After reading trough all the comments I wondered if I could buy MSFS ‘again’ but now the premium deluxe bundle f.e. when it’s on sale to give myself a little discount instead of buying it on the marketplace? Is that possible or do I have to reinstall all the things again if I do that?
