C152X Realism Mod

Well, I park, properly go back to cold and dark every flight, and properly exit, and 9 times out of 10 it doesn’t properly log. There are countless topics on the subject with hundreds of replies.

I see that he’s crediting both @TheFrett & @DRF30q and has added on top of their work. Would be nice if they could collaborate and merge everything into a single mod going forward.

Hopefully @DRF30q and @TheFrett and will pick up on that and collaborate.

Funny you should mention that … I was think about this subject just before I logged into the forum.

There are all these talented individual, all working on mods, and mostly having to figure it all out by trial and error, as any SDK is virtually non-existent.

While they may have limited communication via a forum, or even email , there is nothing to substitute getting together in a “meeting” and having a two way conversation to discuss technical issues.
Email, and forums are frustratingly slow & inefficient for this. - not to mention the issue of misunderstands and false assumptions !!!

So much more can be achieved so much faster in a group chat/zoom/skype or whatever, if those involved are will to commit to that more personal interaction.

But yes, having 2-3 separate, independent Mods for the C152, is, at least confusing for anyone trying to use those Mods.

Is the mod by TheFrett downloadable somewhere to be put “on top” of the already really good mod made by DRF30q?

Sorry to hear man … good luck in that case

From his Github it looks like he’s the lead on the G36 mod. He does have an earlier fork of the C152X listed but I don’t think its being updated.

I’d stick with the C152X by DRF30q or you could give JPLogistics/ MSFS_C152 a try.

As suggested earlier it would be good to see these efforts merged at some point. It’s great having all these talented dev’s improving the default aircraft for the benefit of all.

I’ll defiantly do with the 1st to offer DME !!!— even if it is as crude as the Callsign label displaying DME instead of Callsign !!! —

Actually, that’s not such a ridiculous idea as it may at first seem (if it updates) !!!

No please leave the callsign. Otherwise I forget my tail number when ATC calls me :joy:

No, you do not need a DME. You do need a Mode C transponder, which this has already. I never had a DME in any of the IFR planes I flew (which wasn’t many, but wasn’t one.) You do need a DME for certain approaches however. I forget which.

Most likely a VOR/DME approach, which relies heavily on intercepting the VOR radials at a certain distance, and being on the correct altitude at certain DME points

Localizer DME approaches, DME Arc … and to figure out where you are using only 1 nav radio, and have a constantly known position, rather than to keep having to do a cross bearing with 2 nav radios.

My new C150

That’s it… thanks

That’s cool. Personally I like using 2 nav radios, but, whatever floats yer boat.

Just tested and also having the heavy left banking issue. I do love the speed increase fix for the dome light brightness adjustment though. Going to keep an eye on this mod.

Depends where you fly … and what you got use to. Now, with GPS, a lot of those Steam Gauge skills are lost, replace by the far larger complexities of elaborate GPS systems.

If you only need 1 Nav radio + Dme to determine your position, then that frees up the other radio for other uses. Your position from a cross bearing from 2 Vors , is not that accurate (or known to you) in any case, depending on how ABUSED your rental plane is !!!

Maybe you need to loose a little weight ?? J/K

or Feed your Co-Pilot more Donuts !!!

The Dihedrial effect of the planes in MSFS seem to be “Missing” … I tried setting the C172 to have a massive Dihedral, and it made no difference at all !!

When you’re in a 152, knowing exactly where you are, well, don’t matter too much

There’s plenty of time to get where you need to be

Yes I initiated the G36 mod. The reason I get credited is because I made a pull request some time ago for @DRF30q’s repository (the ‘original’ C152 mod). I adjusted the climb, cruise and glide performance to match the charts in the POH. However, that pull request is still open. This ‘new’ repository appears to be a clone, but with my pull request merged and some other changes…

I had done some more checking on Github and saw your pull request referencing performance updates but I don’t know all that much about Github and how pulls work.

Thanks for all your work on these community mods.
