C172 G1000 Knobs Not Clickable in Legacy Interaction Mode

The classic shouldn’t have heading bug sync. That’s not a feature of the instrument fitted in the classic.

Thank you for the bug report.

We have created an internal ticket to see if our team already has this logged, and if not they will attempt to reproduce the issue and create a new bug report. This item is now marked as feedback-logged. If there is an existing bug report or one is created, we will move this thread to bug-logged

Yes I’ve the same problem.
As it is, the G1000 is unusable at the moment!

I’m having the same issue with Garmin 1000, can’t press the NAV or FMS knob with any mouse click combination.

It is a shame because Garmin 1000 is useless by now.

On a PC with LEGACY mode and Defauyt Bindings, what works for me is the trick mentionned before by @CharlieFox00 : I put my pointer over the FMS knob, click and maintain the LEFT MOUSE BUTTON, then click the RIGHT MOUSE button. Works 100% but again, for me, I don’t know if it’s a bug or the intended way of doing

Hey folks, I can confirm this is still not working on my PC setup in legacy mode on the G1000 in several aircraft. Have tried in on the ground and in the air. I wasn’t aware of the left and right click so will give that a go, thanks!

What’s weird is I see YouTubers clicking with no issue, but have not heard any of the ones I follow mention this bug, which seems pretty major given how many miles you do in the 172 with G1000 in the career mode!

Cheers

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
YES, BUT:
•It isn’t terribly important, I think I posted on this a while back, but Legacy mode now needs the opposite mouse button click from what it used in FS2020, to press a control in the cockpit. Left button vs. Right, or vice-versa, I can’t remember which right now. Just try it.
And the rotation is indicated now by a highlighted blue control not the FS 2020 circular arrow. But it all still works OK.
More significantly, it seems to take a zillion mouse wheel rotations to change the heading of the PFD. Heading knob should be a lot more responsive/sensitive to mouse wheel rotation.

the solution is to click with left AND right mouse buttons, OR to remove the default cockpit freelook binding which is blocking the left mouse button click from working in legacy mode (because it’s bound to mousemove+left mouse button). obviously this isn’t a great choice unless you have a TrackIR or a Tobii eye tracker to look around with instead.

In LEGACY mode on PC with default bindings, if you hold down the left mouse button over the FMS knob, the hand icon will change to a closed hand.

To press the knob (such as for entering data in the Garmin G1000):

  1. Hold down the left mouse button (the hand icon will stay closed).
  2. While still holding the left button, click the right mouse button once.
  3. This action will simulate pressing the knob, allowing you to input data.

This method ensures proper interaction with the G1000 in LEGACY mode.

You are correct this is how it’s working on FS2024, but this is not how it worked in FS2020, which is the basis behind most bug reports and complaints. It is yet to be determined if this was done on purpose and is now the “new” way, or if it’s a bug and needs to go back to the single-click of FS2020. Feels like a bug to me. The thread is also tagged as “Bug Logged” so it would seem Asobo agrees it needs to be changed.

That’s not how Legacy mode works though. Double-check FS2020 and those steps mentioned are valid for LOCK interaction in FS2020, but not Legacy.

Is the option to change/save not accessible yet in the G36 Bonanza?
All the ones in cyan should be editable.

What option?

They are.

I cannot change these options on any G1000 aircraft using the legacy interaction model. The issue seems to be that clickspots for pressing knobs are disabled, so things like pressing heading sync doesn’t work, and even though I can scroll to the setup page on the MFD, I cannot click the knob to enable the cursor. Which is a real pain when changing radio frequencies on my Logi radio panel by having to crank the heck out of it in 8.33 khz mode.

You should be able to. That is what I use.

Ah, this on my end doesn’t work.

EDIT: Ok now it works for me. No idea what is going on.

EDIT2: Alright I did some further testing and what I have found is that on aircraft with the G1000 NXi that are shipped with MSFS 2024 you can’t press the inner knob. I’ve been using the COWS DA40 and DA42 and it works. It seems they went ahead and fixed it themselves.

Went ahead and upvoted this issue.

Will try tmr and give the necessary feedback if it works :folded_hands:t3:
