Have you checked all other peripherals / devices that they don’t have anything brake related configured? I use Alpha + Bravo as my main controls but also have a joystick and Xbox controller connected and those somehow interfered with my brakes and rudder until I removed all those assignments on them. Might want to double check what input profiles are used for each devices when using the 172 and what assignments are active there.
