Cabin real dimensions in VR

Something else worth adding regarding ‘correct’ field of view - I wear either glasses or contacts for short-sightedness. The glasses make everything through the lenses about 15% smaller, an effect that isn’t there with contacts. When I mentioned this to an optician they confirmed my thinking that it was because the glasses do the correcting a significant distance from the eye. In other words, anyone wearing glasses is - to some extent - experiencing the real world with the wrong field of view.

I might go for a week or two without wearing contacts, and when doing so everything suddenly looks very different. It was the glasses making everything ‘wrong’, and now I’m seeing things right.

Myself and millions of other people cope with this stuff just fine. As I said previously, it’s all about perception. I really don’t think it’s worth worrying about trying to make things physically correct in VR. Many people in sim racing are equally obsessed in using a mathematically correct FoV and I reckon it’s just daft.
