Crash to desktop (CTD) was something that hardly ever affected me. Very rarely would I have a CTD. Now I can hardly ever complete a flight without it happening. Since I don’t see VR people generally complaining about increased CTD lately, I’m wondering if it might be something more specific, perhaps related to my Varjo Aero headset (in particular their latest version of Varjo Base).
Are other users of the Aero experiencing significantly increased CTD lately?
Just to mention that I have gone so far as to completely reformat my PC and reinstall everything afresh. I do use other addons like OnAir and vPilot. The CTDs are usually associated with me switching out of VR mode and back in again (but this is not always the case. Sometimes I’m just bumbling along in my good 'ol vision jet and the simulator has a wobble and shuts down).
Nothing has changed on the hardware side. Still running the i9-13900k and RTX 4090 (nothing is overclocked). Tried turning HAGS off but that didn’t resolve it (though I think I got a few extra fps by doing that). Still using DX11.
I’m sorry to hear about your CTD-problems, but based on my own data points it’s unlikely to be Varjo Aero-specific. My Varjo Aero-system behaves nicely and I haven’t experienced any CTDs for a very long time now. (Aero, 7900X3D, 4090 latest driver, DX11)
I hope you find the problem quickly; a CTD from the immersion of VR is a terrible experience!

yeah man this is terrible. I honestly can’t figure out what it is. I’ve not managed to complete a flight in a long while now. Usually during a flight if I’m not on Vatsim I’ll go out of VR mode and take off my headset until descent time. Most of the time the CTD happens when I put the headset back on and try to switch back to VR mode.
I just tried disabling hyperthreading on my CPU and then also tried DX12. Nothing changes. Maybe I’ll try emptying my community folder.

Same here: Latest Varjo software, latest Win11 and Ndivia updates installed - and no problems with CTD.
But I had them quite often after the last Sim update (the one before the Nordics/Greenland). I went thru the CTD section on this forum - I mean the official MS thread on CTD - and applied all tips I found applicable to my setup. After that, the CDT were mostly gone…
Yes, I just checked, I have Varjo Base 3.10.3.25 too.
One difference however, is that I almost never leave VR. It does happen every now and then when I want to capture a screenshot, but it’s very rare. I stay in VR for the full flight (usually 1–2 hours), switching to VR as the first thing after entering the cockpit and leaving VR only after shutdown, just before heading back to the main menu.
