I’m thinking about buying a 3070 at the ridiculous asking price because the 2070S I’m running now is fine, but just not cutting it. I run an ultrawide monitor at 3440x1440 with mostly high settings and getting around 30-40FPS with addon planes. BUT I’m also running a ton of post processing sharpening because of the render scale at 80%. I’d like to run the render scale at 100% and turn off all of this sharpening…it makes things look fuzzy.
Ideally I’d go for a 3090, but those are almost impossible to get and if you do, you’re paying $3500 for one…and I’m not doing that. That’s the price of a brand new system.
If any of you are running a 3070/3060/3060Ti, I’d love to hear how you’re running.
I have an RTX 3090 and a r9 3900x with 32GB of RAM. I can’t get the sim to run higher than about 50fps in the middle of the Gobi desert in a yellow cub with weather and internet turned off. With them on, I get maybe 21 to 23 fps.
But it has nothing to do with the RTX 3090. The 3070 is more than good enough to run this game. I’m being limited by my cpu. You’ll need to wait until they either release a better CPU or just until they fix the game.
My CPU is alright. May upgrade to the 11900k when I can, but right now running a 10700k at 5.3 and it does well. My limiting factor is the GPU. Unreal that you can’t go higher than 50 in the desert…
I don’t know why thi sis posted as a performance bug vote. You may want to consider moving this over to Community > General as it’s more suited to that category.
But yes, a 3070 should easuly be able to handle that as long as you have a decent CPU and you’re not experiencing some other weirdness or bugs.
(Sorry @SeppsX - this wasn’t meant to be a reply to you directly, but to the OP.)
I built myself a new system just for MSFS. I run a RTX3070 AMD Ryzen 9 3900x with 32gb of 3600 RAM on an Ultra wide monitor at 3340 x 1440. I get anything between low 30’s up to 60 plus FPS with settings on a mix of high and ultra. This latest update has increased my FPS quite a lot but in highly built up areas and large airports, it can sometimes drop below 30 but still runs reasonably smooth.
Cool. Do you find yourself GPU or CPU limited. If you can, i know I’m asking a lot, but could you post your settings? It’d be a good apples to apples comparison.
I run an I5 10600K, 32 GB, 1 TB M2 SSD and RTX3070 at 2560 x 1440. My FPS are generally well above 30 FPS, but it all depends on the plane you fly, the location you are, etc. So at larger airports with a CRJ or A320 you might not get 30FPS. However, it will still be quite smooth and enjoyable.
That won’t bottleneck anything on the market rn. 11900K could even be a downgrade in some situations. 10700K + 3070 would probably be 30 FPS+ most of the time.
I fly “all-the-things” - i’m casual gamer.
I use Ultra, with terrain and objects at “100” with the game capped at 60 fps, and under-volt my GPU. (Above videos are not under-volt)
