I would like to fly some landing challenges but I have tried a few in the past and was disappointed that I wasn’t able to do these with one of the airplanes I like to fly. The challenge starts in the air in a plane that I have never flown. I don’t even know where anything is and I have to do a challenging landing? Did I miss something in start up or is there no way to select a different aircraft? I have seen instructions on setting up custom challenging landings but I just want to do the canned ones. I believe I could do a pretty good job if I didn’t have to fumble around trying to fly an unfamiliar plane.
The scenarios are set - runway, weather, and aircraft. I was in the same position as you, but over time as I branched out and tried to learn more aircraft, I’d take a stab at that plane’s version of the Landing Challenge. You can kinda force yourself to “level up” almost, in a way, as you take on more advanced aircraft. If that’s not the way you intend to play, there is no way to adjust the aircraft per challenge, unfortunately.

All airplanes fly the same, physically.
All you need is your thrust lever, stick and rudder.
Maybe flaps and gear and eventually the spoilers.
Put flaps, spoilers and gear on a button you can easily reach on your joystick.
The rest is training.
Try the aircraft needed in a Challenge in a World Map flight to familiarize yourself with it first. You don’t have to do the Challenge first.
I appreciate the replys. figured that I would’nt be able to change planes. I fly short flights all over the world and make a lot of landings. I probably have landed at several of the airports in the challenges already. I fly mainly warbirds and other vintage aircraft like the DC3 and the Grumman Goose and even the FA18. I don’t like the airliners because their cockpit and windscreens don’t look right on my 3 monitor setup. Single seat or tandem seat planes are the best. I’ll just keep looking for interesting airports on my own.
