You do know fixing things take time, right? There’s literally nothing else you can do but wait. Might I suggest you do other things while you wait?

I disagree. Why don’t you show screenshots of what you’re talking about?
But anyway, your post is hard to read. You should take some more effort when posting such requests, expecting other people to fix your issues.

Guys, don’t give him a hard time, frustration is there, might as well express it…
I noticed also that water looks nowhere like those fancy MSFS trailers etc…even with settings to high, look at my pics the water looks like LOW setting but I set it to HIGH.

MANY users? Many will imply that SOME has the water perfect? I think it is ALL users, if it is like this for us I don’t see why it perfect for others? If it is perfect for SOME, those SOME need come in and tell us what’s going on.

You probably want to start by defining what is “perfect” in the first place.

You’re joking right? Or you’re just starting another never ending fuss?

No, I’m not joking. “Perfect” is subjective.

Let me put it another way, with a pretend scenario, where a Community Manager is communicating with the devs:

CM: Stop what you are doing! Someone on the forums wants the water to be perfect.
Dev1: That’s a great idea…ummm, does anyone know whether this variable should be “0.6” or “0.9” for “perfect”?
Dev2: Quick, someone grab the “perfect” lookup table. Let’s get to work.

Okay, a little facetious, and for that I apologise. But for Asobo to do something about it, you need to frame your requests in a way that rule out possible misinterpretation. Screen grabs showing before, and after are good for this, pointing out where things need to change, and so on.

The water is certainly better now than it was in the last couple of updates. But back to the original release version, I don’t remember. Although there are plenty of videos out there running up to release, showing off the Icon A5. They would be good videos to go back to, and try and replicate those scenes with the current build.

no the water is not better than it was in last couple updates lmao.
at release it was quite good, now it’s bad.
check videos of many users on youtube for comparisons and fly to the same spots.

I did look at the OP. What I read was:

That’s a little difficult to quantify.

I wasn’t comparing it to release, but the last update or two, which made some improvements to the water. The white caps on waves returned, although you had to get the wind speed white high to so so.

Somewhere between release, and up to those updates, the water didn’t look as good. They then made some changes which undid some of that, but some still consider it not good enough, and not back to how it was at release, hence this thread.

Of course, all those are generally speaking as “saying” not literally, my “perfect” is as “saying” also as general speaking, we assume there’s a general understanding.

To sum up we all know the water is not as expected, that is the main concern for.

I agree.

Saying ‘water is a mess’ relegates the comment to a vent which cannot achieve anything other than releasing a momentary feeling of frustration. To stand any real hope of any improvement any issues need to be specific so that the devs. can have at least some chance of seeing where the problem lies.

My subjective opinion is that since the last patch the water, especially compared to my last sim, is quite impressive. I like the glassy and reflective appearance of the water. Not fantastically objective I agree but there again I am not too bothered about any improvements here so I am happy to post a throwaway comment which can be ignored. If I was unhappy with the water I would try to give a more detailed and descriptive account of my perceived issues.

The idea here is that the water should look realistic, not glassy, what’s the point making the best immersive sim of all with immersive lighting environment etc and have a water that doesn’t look real. The land the clouds look realistic enough but the water doesn’t?

Agree. The OP is too vague and non specific for anyone to be able to do much with it. In any event, if you feel strongly about this, then voting on the linked bugs thread is probably the way to go.

I think the other thing I would add is that whilst the community is mad keen to get involved and fix loads of things, it isn’t helpful if Asobo is already on the case. This leads to two things. First effort is wasted or duplicate. Second, when Asobo issue updates, inevitably any community mods need to get updated and this leads to fake bugs caused by mods rather than the sim itself.

Personally I really like the water and would go so far as to say it is a good as any water I’ve seen in a video game other than perhaps AC4 Black Flag, widely recognised as having the best water in a video game ever. If the devs want to improve it, I won’t say no, but it’s no where near the top of my “please fix” list

MSFS team, give the water back, we need it.

Not sure why the water looks like this (pics on post above) when it looked like this in your trailer?

Isn’t the trailer representative of IN-SIM footage?

???

I am far from being an expert but to me it really looks great. It did look off a couple of patches ago but now seems a lot better, at least to me.

Personally, by and large I think most of the scenery is impressive at least compared to other sims and would prefer the dev. time switched to SDK, systems work, weather and maybe further optimisations. Having said that we all have our own preferences and I respect yours.

Yes the scenery is impressive, water is part of the scenery, so why make it that way to spoil the immersive experience? You don’t like the realistic water in the trailer you prefer glassy unrealistic look to go with the “impressive” rest of the scenery? If so, then I don’t understand you…

This thread is a waste of time without screenshots comparing the release to the latest patch.

None of the Asobo devs can really act on the information in this thread because it’s vague and doesn’t have specific examples.

If you claim that after this latest patch, the water is not as good as it was on the release of the game, take a screenshot of the exact same location, using the exact same graphics settings and resolution, and the same weather, of the water at the release of the patch and the water in the current patch.

Otherwise, if you claim that the water is not as good as release, it’s subjective and prone to memory errors.

I can say that in patch #4, the water was not good for calm days. But from my memory, the water on release is about the same as patch #5 for me. As I did not take any screenshots at release, it is subjective and dependent on my memory. So if you did take screenshots on release, then post your screenshots to compare the water at release with the water in this patch, using the same location, same graphics settings, same altitude, same weather, etc.

And you can probably get this water if you go to that location in the game and set the wind settings to get this type of water effect?

I have no idea what location this is, but if I increase the wind settings, I get water comparable to that, albeit at a different location. To do an apples to apples comparison, you need to find this location first with this same water color (the water color varies for MSFS across the world).

No need, every NORMAL human being know what water (sea (wind or no wind) lake river etc) looks like when they’re outside looking at it, no need increase wind or change place etc, that is a waste of time.

You can see my pics above on final and wing banking, you can add wind whatever you want that won’t make the water suddenly realistic like the trailer.
