Can someone explain this please (wind vector)

Can someone explain this please this to me? If you look at the wind direction it seems like I’m getting two different readings on the left monitor to the middle monitor. What am I missing here?

Yeah, it looks like they’re opposite? Did you put a ticket on Zendesk (link at top of page) ? :small_airplane: :smiley_cat:

No, I haven’t put in a ticket yet. I wanted to see if it was maybe something I did and wasn’t aware of it first. I did install the Caravan 208 mod that was made and it crossed my mind that it could be the problem as well but I wasn’t sure.

Have you tried this G1000 mod? Update: G1000 improved v2 IDK if it can fix it either?

The left one is based on aircraft direction the other is based on North up.

I thought that too at first, but you see that the right one points against the direction of flight, and the left one points in the direction of flight.

Completelly wrong!

Is it? Odd a real pilot says that is what they are for. Maybe you can tell us what is completely right?

Yes, there are a few dozen reports of these not quite working properly already, I’ve logged one myself. The OP was asking why they can point in different direction. What I stated is the reason, I originally thought that they maybe should point in the same direction but would be redundant and was corrected by someone that says the use a real Garmin.

As for wind bugs, like I say, there are plenty of posts already, this didn’t seem to be talking about those bugs though. If it was it is missing a lot of detail.

Very simple check,

look at PFD wind parameters, is 43/7 so blow from 43 deg. Look now to MFD, hope you can do elementary math or check why it has 43+180 deg indication now.

The math is simple, but what is the interpretation of this inverted vector?

Sry,

I see this simple, if MFD is North oriented, wind direction need shows correct wind direction in magnetic deg. so logically from 43 deg  what is more complicated to understand? This is simply BUG.

OK, now it is clear. I didn’t check it with a real MFD, so I didn’t know it was a bug.

Why need compare with real MFD?

It’s simply logical, due orientation of MFD, Asobo need make simple calculation of wind direction due that MFD orientation, I simply don’t understand to this basic BUG.

Did you make a bug out of it? I too saw it, but never came about to report it

The arrows are pointing in the opposite directions. It says on the left wind is coming FROM 43 deg. So the arrow on the left display relative to flight direction seems fine. But the one on the right display is pointing TOWARDS 43 deg direction rather than from.

Yep, the wind vector faces the wrong direction on the MFD. It’s fixed in the next version of the Working Title G1000, which I’m hoping to have in pre-release within days.

In the latest version the wind direction on the MFD still seems to be 180 degrees off, using the latest MSFS update.

The middle screen is pointed in the direction that the wind is coming FROM, the PFD is showing the direction the wind is moving.

The middle screen is not typical of a cockpit display. The PFD is the correct implementation.
