I use a simple .exe file called “iRacing wheel check” and it gives great center force for my Fanatec wheel. This file seems so simple, I was wondering if someone could write a proprietary file that creates the FF that strengthens with air speed like a real plane. Actually, someone from
Asobo could probably draw it up in 3 hrs after lunch. I don’t know. Just an idea.
Well, it is likely that it would be possible to write such a tool but what would you use it with? Can’t fly a plane with a racing wheel very well.
That’s a boat wheel.
I don’t think you realize the depth of your request. Especially with the 3-hour guesstimate. Several members here have been working for months to get FFB to work properly in MSFS. Just do a search for FFB in these forums to gain a glimpse of the scope of the issue.
Title edited to clarify Topic Author’s ask.
There are so few Force Feedback Joystick still out there, and the FF Yokes are a premium price, and hence not that common - so the Market for adding FF in MSFS is extremely low.
Two 3rd Party developers developed for FS, but already one has dropped out when MSFS 2020 came out, planing lack of support in the sim for his solution..
The other developer has a MSFS 2020 Product, but has probably gone as far as he can, given the limited support within the sim, for what he is attempting to do (XP11 & MSFS)
With such a small market, and so many other more popular things that need addressing in MSFS, I cannot see Asobo doing much for that currently limited FF market.
Such a shame – I still have an old Microsoft Sidewinder II Force Feedback Joystick, and with XPFORCE, it is a game changer.
Ah so I guess what you’d like this for is your Sidewinder. It would probably be more work than you think and since there’s so few of these out there the biggest issue is that you’d need to have someone who owns one and also has the skills and the interest to build the software for one reason or another. When the first group of those is probably already extremely small you aren’t then likely to find many people that also are part of that second group.
Would be pretty nice to see flight sim controllers start having force feedback again definitely, even though I’m quite happy with a Honeycomb yoke.
Tthe analogue stick for pitch on the Fanatec Formula V2 works great. with clutch and gas as rudder (stick doubles as rudder axis). The racing wheel has so many buttons and dials it’s great for VR, never fumbling around for inputs. The thumb encoder is a great trim wheel, shift paddles are like shift keys for more button bindings. I use it because I’m not removing the sim racing element from my control scheme.
???
I have it for my Sidewinder – XPForce – It works – and is the game Changer.
The issue is not getting the software – the issue is finding Force Feedback Joysticks & Yokes.
another solution (and free) is airforceplayer.net. It works with directinput devices and might also work with your wheel using only the centering feature based on airspeed.
I use this one, and I like it - simFFB
One can use this utility software.
I’m using it for helicopter with my old Sidewinder 2, it’s working well. It only miss the rotor vibration effect!
