Somehow in airbus and Hornet I can’t do nose up or down. I am using keyboard, can do right or left but no luck with nose up or down. Other planes no problem.
If you are using trim to do that, you can’t in the Airbus, as it has auto trim.
F18 s.hornet also auto trim, except when flaps set half or full.
I’d imagine both being difficult to fly using keyboard/mouse.
Thanks for your help. Is there a way to turn off auto trim? Yes it is little difficult with keyboard, but I usually fly Boing 747 and never have a problem nose up or down using arrow up or down keys in the keyboard
The autotrim is built in to the airplane.
You use autopilot functions to climb and descend.
In the Airbus, you have to turn off all the automation, and completely fly by hand.
You do can turn off all the automation by turning off the three INS rotary switches on the overhead panel, but, you will have no autopilot functions or MCDU at all if you do that.
In the default A320 in the sim, these switches are inoperable, so you are stuck with the automation.
The FBW version does have a functioning system.
The 747 is a Boeing, that is the difference. It does not operate like an Airbus.
I seem to have no issue with nose up or down with a Xbox controller? I agree with the others about autotrim but I can still fly and land the plane with autopilot off. I never tried the keyboard but I will next time I fly it.

I see what you mean. With default keyboard Num8 is pitch down and Num2 is pitch up. It’s awkward because the cockpit joystick (elevator) doesn’t spring back to center when I let go of the key.
No, it is not.
To a point, the default A320 in the sim is built on the system a real Airbus A320 works.
This condition is actually the principal difference between a Boeing and an Airbus.
You must shut down all the autopilot functions in real life to do that.
In a Boeing the pilot has control as you described.
In the sim, the switches which control all the automated features (the three round knobs marked IRS in the upper left of the overhead) were not made functional, so there is no way to shut down all the automatic control functions.
I suspect that was because in the real A320 that will almost never happen.
The A320 was built to be operated with a high degree of animation, and turning those switches off would only be done as a procedure in an very unusual circumstance.
To use this aircraft in the sim, there is quite a bit to learn about it’s style control systems.
Thanks so much. With this much knowledge you must be a pilot. Thanks for all the explanations. I will have to stick with 747 which I love flying it.
You are certainly welcome.
No, not a pilot, although I have flown a bit in real life.
I’ve just been simming for quite some time, and I generally simfly the airliners.
Don’t give up on the A320. Watch some utube vids on how to operate it.
It’s a really nice airplane once you understand it!
