Every time I log on to FS 2020 there are updates. It is becoming unusable. As with all Microsoft products, expect 50% of your time to be wasted trying to get their products to actually function.
Yet again today a 114.34 GB update!!!

There’s a patch or world update every month. So I’m guessing you log in once per month?
The OP’s experience is certainly not my experience. Cheers.
Perhaps unpleasant to read this but… what I personally do is start up the sim the evening an update is released…kickstart the update and walk away, prepare a nice meal, open a bottle of wine and relax.
During the time consuming update I forget about actually flying…
Updates/patches are there with a reason and however most updates also introduce minor but annoying flaws… overtime the sim gets better and better,…
There must be something wrong with your installation, there are no daily updates of the game, the latest (SU7) was released 2021-11-18.
No there was a major update yesterday 114.34 GB, and now I can’t even configure the HOTAS Saitek Pro without it crashing. Unplayable. I’m going back to Xplane that works perfectly.
FYI I have a brand new rig ASUS board ,i9, 64GB RAM Nvidia 3090 with 8GB.
Got to agree with Ixoye56, been no updates since the SU7 update.
114 GB? You re-installed the game, my guy. Something happened to your install files apparently.
There’s never been a 100GB+ update. The only reason MSFS would try to download that kind of data is for a fresh installation, if the original installation was corrupted or if you manually delete or change something from the Official folder and the installation routine tries to fix it.
114GB is a full reinstall. Not an update.
MSFS has a program folder (of about 1GB) and another folder that contains most of the game asset files. (this folder contains two folders, OneStore is all the default scenery, aircraft etc, Community is for 3rd party scenery and aircraft). MSFS will check the OneStore and Community folders each time it starts. If there are missing files it will download them.
If you are getting a 114GB update it sounds like your OneStore folder has either gone missing or MSFS can’t find it.
When you get told to update there should be an option to set the location (I think a button on the bottom right of screen titled BROWSE). You need to make sure that is pointed towards your MSFS folder that contains the OneStore and Community folders otherwise MSFS will redownload everything and install it to it’s default location.
You need to check that your install location is correct.
I dont think hes going to get all these suggestions. He went back to X-Plane…
Maybe it is a new update which will include the solar system, and we can fly into space?
