Can we please get SMAA as an aliasing option in 2024?

TAA is great as a low cost AA solution but the ghosting and overal image crispness is horrible in every single game title.

It would bring me great joy to see the superior aliasing solution SMAA/MSAA in the new version.

I read this article, and I agree. Anything we can get that improves anti-aliasing better than the current choices and reduces CPU load is a good thing!

Same as the new Baldurs Gate III game.
with TAA reflective surfaces on textures look dull, overall clarity is dull.
But switching to SMAA it looks so crisp and clear.

Obviously it’s not as smooth as TAA at 1x SMAA but the overal fidelity is great.
Many things get negatively affected by TAA in MSFS.
I’ll make some screenshots and update the first post with them. (actually nvm it won’t really work, forum compression and screenshots don’t do this justice.)

Turn your in-sim AA completely off and put your render scale at like 125% it’ll be SMAA ish (with a bit more jaggies than SMAA/MSAA)

I once tried rendering up to 200% (or was it 400%??), to test for increased GPU load, and found next to no framerate impact. But I didn’t try disabling TAA at the same time. I may do just that, and compare visual clarity.

pay close attention to thin objects that dissapear with TAA lumping together pixels.
Trees definition, ground textures and texture clarity overall in the cockpit.
