Can you clone/backup Steam version?

I am getting sick of all the update hassles on my MS store version and am considering re purchasing on Steam. I believe it is a one click update. Just wondering if you can move the steam version to another disk and either clone or back it up. Tried that on the store version but it does not work.

Also, how do you go if you have two versions on your PC for registration etc.

For Steam, I’ve backed up my “Official” folder. In an emergency, I only need to reload the game itself, about 1.2 Gb on the hard drive.
Has already helped me twice because the updater deleted all the content. The “Community” folder was not touched.
