Can you rename controller profiles

It is possible to rename the controller profiles so that i can create profiles that are specific to aircraft?

Yes. Go into Manage Profiles, make a copy, then give the copy a new name. When you get a profile you like, make a backup copy, just in case it gets corrupted or accidentally deleted.

Yes! Go to Settings > Control Options > Click “Manage Profile” > Rename.

This is currently not an option at the moment, see Aircraft-specific control profiles

I create controller settings for each aircraft I fly and give the profile the name of the aircraft. The downside is you have to manually choose the profile in each controller before flying. This is a hassle which I hope can be changed to automatic selection in the future. Some of my profiles are duplicates but I still name them after the aircraft in case I change anything later.

Do you know about ‘SPAD.NExT’ and ‘Axis And Ohs’? They allow you to program events that set up controls, much like the in-sim control presets. The software runs alongside the sim, and takes over the interaction between sim events and the plane.

There are several advantages to using them, the most notable being that you can create custom profiles for every aircraft in the sim, and the software automatically loads those presets when you load a plane into your hangar.

Yes, they require some work to get everything set up, but so do the in-sim control presets. In fact, I find using SPAD is far more intuitive than the in-sim method.

Another benefit is the community of users of both programs who share their profiles and ‘snippets’ that can be easily imported into your own.

Yes, they are payware (there is a trial version of SPAD available) but if, like me, you like to reduce keyboard/mouse usage to a bare minimum, and are willing to spend the time to learn to use them, they are totally worth it. Both have Discord channels, with tons of helpful advice.

I can’t find Settings anywhere in the sim. Could you explain where the settings are?
