I decided to buy this game for my birthday since I have extra money for once in my life. But I cant get the game to install no matter what I do. The 2gb files get downloaded from the MS Store, I go to my start menu and run as admin, the game loads up to the point of checking for updates, then it says starting game with the seconds counter going up to about 10-15 seconds usually, then CTD, no warnings or errors.
I have tried everything I could find including:
-closing all non essential apps including antivirus
-running as admin
-deleting everything, restarting pc, and reinstalling from MS Store
-deleting rolling cache from app data folder
-Windows is up to date
-Tried with latest Nvidia driver 536.99, 536.40, and 531.29
-Turned OC off
Im a very tech savy person, I work as a video game developer and I have extensive coding and windows knowledge. But today is one of my few days off and I really just want to play a game and relax, my brain is tired and Its absolute crap that I have to waste hours working on getting a released game to even install, let alone run. From something with Microsofts name on it no less, its pathetic and shameful and I really hope I can get a refund from Microsoft for this because I wasted most of my birthday and what little extra money I had on it. Im angry, sad, and frustrated, I just want to fly a plane
If anyone has any tips that might help id appreciate it, but at this point im ready to give up on this game.

-Windows 10 Home
-Asrock x399 Phantom Gaming 6
-Threadripper 1920x Overclocked to 4.0ghz
-MSI RTX 3080 Ventus (536.99, 536.40, and 531.29 drivers all have been tried)
-32gb Ram
-SK Hynix Gold 1tb nvme ssd
Turn off XMP via BIOS settings
Turn off AV software
Increase virtual memory
Launch MSFS via xbox app
I just gave all that a try and it made no difference, I appreciate the advice though!
Pagefile is at 100gb, its so large mainly for game dev stuff until I can afford more ram
Gaming services and English (United States) language pack installed?
Yeah I even tried removing and reinstalling the language pack, and syncing my time. I also checked for updates in the MS Store and made sure Gaming Services is up to date.
After that I tried a repair and reset of Gaming Services app

Still no luck unfortunately, I don’t want to waste your whole day too. Maybe Ill just try to get a refund if i can and use the money for x-plane, I chose this game over that initially because I liked the idea of flying anywhere in the world and the graphics seem better

Hi. Try to end task explorer.exe, in my case its works, with running explorer I have CTD on game installing, updating, in menu or playing (5-30 min), with ended explorer I can fly hours without CTDs
Hi Marttinia, I just gave your suggestion a try and its still not working for me. Either there is something wrong with my system or the game is just broken for some people. Everything else works great on my computer, this is the only game or program with problems which leads me to believe its the game. I’ve spent almost 8 hours on this today, several yesterday, and Im losing patience with it. I wish it would work but I dont have the energy to mess with it anymore today. I submitted a support ticket, maybe the devs can figure it out.
Quick update, after just trying repeatedly to open the game, its finally gotten to the update/install screen. I pressed the update button and it seems to be working but the blue loading bar is stuck at like 90%
Okay now its downloading, I think this is related to this issue CTD on first run Hopefully this is all it is at this point, Ill update again when download is complete
The game is working properly now, it seems I just needed to start the game right after it crashes a few times in a row
I am personally familiar with frequent CTDs, so I’m glad for you that it worked for you now, I wish you as few CTDs as possible and happy fly.
