Hello anyone who wants to listen…my issue is that I recently purchased a new version of MSFS 2020 because I created a new XBOX and MS Store account because I got hacked and locked out of my library. The version I purchased after installing it from the Xbox library will not launch and I get the following error: “cannot access the specified device, path or file.” It is looking for files in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\MicrosoftFlightSimulator_1.32.7.0_x64_8wekyb3d8bbwe…"
After countless hours of chat & phone support with Zendesk, MS & XBOX, none of the support reps were able to figure out how to resolve the issue. As a result I have asked for a refund from MS; should I consider playing on steam instead of through XBOX?
Did you still have the version installed from your original XBox account? If so I would log in in with that, and remove that version. I assume that was the account that got hacked? Could MS not assist you with regaining control of that account, since you are the only person authorised to use it legitimately, they should able to assist with that.
I wouldn’t have gone down the route of abandoning that account, and buying another copy of the sim.
thx for the reply…it’s complicated because I followed the support procedures that they tried to assist multiple times. I did not abandon the account, MS restored my account and I was able to login to the MS Store with a new PW however, my library was empty; MSFS 2020 was gone. When I explained to them that whoever hacked it had had somehow hijacked the account and substituted their email for mine, (and BTW I had a copy of their email addresses that I gave to MS) they replied by saying they do not have any proof that I purchased the sim, even though I sent them a copy of the receipt with my CC # and email address. I re-purchased the sim only after exhausting all other possible options.
But the question now is, after creating a new account and re-purchasing MSFS why will it not launch?
