Cannot update thanks to CTD at start

Same issue in FRANCE. After severals tries, and severals CTD (with message saying that i am not connected), the update finaly downloaded. As others say it, this seems to be a server overloaded.

Horrible… If i want to update, and click on continue it loads the game(?!?) and crashed after a few seconds…

I tried this and waited and it looks like it’s working. The download size was always 0 GiB before. :+1: :crossed_fingers:

I reinstalled it thinking it would help, Now i have to install the base package and then update and It is still crashing :frowning:

There seem to be at least two different sets of CTDs being discussed here - the original CTD involves the executable crashing with no message after a few seconds.

Other folks are describing crashes / messages related to no internet connection that occur after an initial startup screen. There seems to be some variety here.

While the latter does seem to be related to overloaded servers and a client that is not designed to handle such scenarios, there is no good evidence other than circumstance that the former is in any way related to server overloading. The only currently observed commonality for the former case is a crash in WwiseLibPCx64P.dll.

I had both, clearly the no internet is a false positive because a connection couldn’t be made to the server. Even if it’s causing different crashes it’s the same issue.

same issue , having no internet connection, renamed the community folder and it started to download then CTD again… im getting a VCRUNTIME as the culprit too

MS servers are likely being overrun right now with everybody trying to update.

I’m seeing the exact same messages about internet connectivity and also had a CTD while MSFS was loading.

Probably best to wait a while and let the crowds die down a bit before attempting the in-game update again.

I had success trying what @flamewalls put, running from the Store app. Worked first time for me after that but had to wait for the update to report something to download. Maybe I just got lucky…

Just for fun I tried a 2nd time and managed to get into the Instillation Manager without error.

I’m downloading the 40.25GiB update now… This is gonna take a while!

Time for lunch :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I think a lot of these install issues are due to overload of the servers… give it a few hours, if necessary, and it will get better.

WwiseLibPCx64P.dll seems to be the problem

I have an issue too. The Steam version updated a little update ok but when I start the game the the africa-screen occurs and it says there is no online-conection. Then the Nordics World-update screen shows up and some seconds later the game crashes to desktop.
I think I will wait for tonight or tomorrow to restart the update again.

I waited untill midnight (europe) and the update stuck with a file. So, I deinstalled the game and had to download the full installation. Now it works.

I have MSFS through steam, but for this last update I had to open xbox game companion and start the game through that with steam running in the background to finally get it to say im connected and start downloading the actual update, not just the tiny steam one

I’ve just disabled process lasso and msfs is now working fine after dealing with these CTDS

Same here, but when i checked the file integrity trough steam, the game DELETED itself… only community folder remained. Asobo, i thougth that you were different than MS and actually tested your releases. Thanks to my slow internet this will be whole night download.

If you have Process lasso or MSI afterburner, turn them off in task manager it finally loaded

Now lets get down to reinstalling :frowning:

That was it!!! Turning off Process Lasso (or strictly speaking turning off the process governor).

I don’t have either Process Lasso or MSI Afterburner. The simulator keeps trying to load, black screen appears with white spinning circle on bottom right and then CTD.

CTD → Restart → CTD → Restart… rinse and repeat. Eventually it will get everything downloaded. Sometimes the restart makes it to the installation screen, sometimes it just CTD’s again. Sometimes the erroneous no internet connection, sometimes not. But eventually (at least for me) after a few restarts it will start downloading again until the next CTD…
