Not sure what Microsoft is doing but the install folder is now SYSTEM owned and locked and can’t be changed with security settings in Windows 10. All I want to do is disable Windows 10 Full Screen Optimization on the .exe file but I’ve been entirely locked out of the folder now despite having full ownership to \WindowApps and all subfolders. I have tried to reapply permissions and change them entirely with no luck. This causes a myriad of problems with various different software that require my access to this folder.
The Irony here is I already own the Deluxe Edition of the game too and it’s even linked to my account with full permission but after the last update they have forced system ownership of the entire folder on Windows Store Install.
Can anyone give me a good reason to just not install this software right about now? I have had enough of Windows 10 and Microsoft Flight Simulator to last me a good ten years. Has anyone found a workaround for this yet? I’m having a hard time keeping my cool here. It’s bad enough I have to use all this software but now it’s blocking me from my own OS.
Resolved by enabling the Xvdd SCSI Miniport driver required for MS Store/XBOX operation. Whole dang folder is mounted… Thx again for helping me debug peoples! In theory without that storage driver running you won’t be able to access anything from the MS Store even with ownership of the folder because it’s mounted to that storage driver. I was debugging something else and had it disabled.
For those wondering the Xvdd SCSI Miniport driver is installed with MFS Windows Store install and sits hidden in device manager. Periodically a good idea to go in there and view hidden devices and delete the unused entries it creates. Some of you might have hundreds by now hehe
That happened to me once- I forgot why I wanted to take ownership of the .exe- it was a while back. It screwed up everything. I had to reinstall the sim. Maybe you can put the settings on the .exe back to what they were and avoid that hassle. Otherwise, it may be a long night…
The Xvdd SCSI Miniport is for the MS Store/XBOX App and is required for all operations on that platform. Once someone told me it was working fine for them I had to go find the problem on my end. After taking ownership of the folder and still not being able to access it I remembered I had mine disabled to debug something else. Soon as I enabled it again the folder came to life because it was attached to that storage driver. The STEAM version does not work the same way and installs like a traditional install or app and does not have this dependency.
I was just trying to access the .exe properties to disable Windows 10 Fullscreen Optimization for other debug purposes. In my configuration the app runs better without Windows having control of Full Screen. I get less stuttering and was also trying to debug a hardware mouse cursor issue on this update.
