Can't get VR to initialize anymore

I am so frustrated. Have a Pimaxx 8k x, i9 processor, 3080ti - plenty of power. Have been playing in VR for a month with no problem. Played earlier today, no problem. This evening, I cannot get VR to load. I have rebooted several times. I am now in my 6th or 7th launch of MSFS. When I load up a flight, everything is fine. When I ctrl-tab to VR, everything freezes up, and either just hangs or CTD. I’ve changed nothing. Just started happening out of the blue. I’ve tried launching SteamVR before booting, after booting, before clicking fly now, after loading up flight… results are same. Blinky screen, stutters a sec, and freezes. I am not sure where to even begin to look to fix the problem. Any suggestions?

EDIT to add to this, it definitely seems like it is something MSFS related… the headset works fine for all other VR apps I have loaded on the machine.

and 8th launch, this time SteamVR open but not switching to VR until get into airplane, stutter, freeze, CTD. ARGHHHHH.

Restart pc.

Make sure pitool is open with headset detected (restart service).

Check steamvr is still default runtime for openxr: SteamVR Settings → Developer → SET STEAMVR AS OPENXR RUNTIME

If that makes no difference, uninstall steamvr then install again (make sure you opt into the Beta - right click steamvr in steam, Properties, Betas, and opt in from the drop down menu).

Thank you! I’ll try reinstalling steamVR tomorrow if still acting up. I was able to get it to work by turning off live weather/traffic, though no idea why that would matter.

I do not see that option in the SteamVR developer settings?

Uninstalling and reinstalling SteamVR seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks for the help!
