Hi all. I just joined the forum and am a month into FS2020, having migrated from FSX. Just wanted to say I’m having ATC sound problem also, but happy to learn it’s not something I did. 2020 is hard enough to adapt to without mystery problems popping up (tks to all who post YouTube vids, I’d be completely lost without them). I’m pretty sure this problem happened to me after I installed several country updates.
Hope to learn a lot here, and hope to be able to contribute in the future.
Still experiencing ATC voices going silent on audio. It’s sporadic, not all the time. Update didn’t help. In fact, since update, my in-game dropdown menu eventually stops responding (won’t open) when I hit Tab or button set up on my yoke. Anyone else get this issue?
It happened to me a couple of days ago. I paused the flight and when I unpaused, no more atc voice and the upper menu disappeared. This was after the update.

I’m having this as well.
I can hear my pilot’s voice when talking to the ATC, but I receive no inbound voice from the radio, so whenever ATC speaks, only the text shows up and I can immediately readback if necessary.
This also applies to ATIS. No ATIS audio, only the buggy text scrolling on the bottom side of the ATC/Comms window.
FWIW I was having this too, but on a hunch I tried a training mission (it was FS Academy VFR #1 as it happens) and as if by magic when I went back to a regular flight ATC was back to normal.
Not sure this helps, but I had no ATC and found in the sound menu after a update I had turned off the audio in the backround off. I turned it to on and I now have my ATC voices back.
I found the bug: It has nothing to do with Assistance Option. There must be a bug within MSFS: Simply, if you switch on developer mode and change to another plane, the Boeing 747-8 it works with the ATC responding…If you then re-change the aircraft to the A320neo f.ex, it still works…but you have to change the aircraft by the developer mode: Tools → Aircrafr selector, not via the main menu…

Not a great idea to rely on so much online services that seem to flake out at the drop of a hat.
Ist time back flying today after couple months break and sure enough ATC sound (pilot thus time) dropped out 10 minutes into flight. Im sadly over it now. I just want stress free flights without technical issues. Ive been very patient since 2020 but patience has now run out
