In preparation for the new msfs-2024 i done a fresh install on my PC, but im unable to install Orbx central. It just doesnt recognize the 2024 sim install, and i obviously dont have 2020 installed anymore. If i goto manually select the sim from the dropdown, theres no msfs (2020 or 2024) is in the list, closest is FSX.
Really Orbx?!
If i say DCS is my sim i can get to the main window but there’s no way to change it back to msfs products, making all my orbx products locked. Still cant get into the sim either, what a joke
Do you really think 6 hours is long enough for them to do a proper 2024 integration, test it, then ship it? I’m assuming they are still based in Australia.
They’re msfs partners and have been building the airports and scenery for 2024, so they’ve had it much longer than others, such as contrail, who does have 2024 integration.
im also in australia, and its late afternoon on the 20th here. Theres not even a manual selection for msfs 2020 either
I emailed Orbx to see if my purchases from them would work and this was the reply
Orbx have updated Orbx Central and when products are ready for MSFS 2024, you will be able to
install them.
I expect that there will be a workaround, but until I have had a chance to install the new simulator<
I cannot say what that might be, or indeed for which products it may work
Yeh the issue i had was resolved with an update, they have converted a few packs, same as contrail. Basically when central is set to msfs24, only the native ones show in my products. Im guessing will be a few months before they all come across. Id hold off, the sim is so buggy, and i stupidly wiped the old sim off.
I’ve noticed that Orbx are very slow to migrate 3rd party products to 2024. A lot of 3rd party products which I know to be fully compatible with 2024 (as the devs have made them compatible) still aren’t showing up in my 2024 library. I have bought a lot of stuff through Orbx and only 2 products are showing for 2024.
Probably half the ones i added didnt show up in “my products” initially, but i noticed them in the store page, and had to click on them then install, then gets re-added to “my products”. Sucha pain
Another cool trick ive been taking advantage of, is if you google “contrail transfer”, you can transfer purchases from other platforms by sharing either transaction ID, or proof of purchase. I discovered this because some devs, such as impulse simulations no longer work with orbx, so no new updates, you can still d/l old copys for 2020 etc, but they arent supported, so put a lot of my stuff over to contrail as they seem to be adding stuff quicker.
You would think helping develop the sim, they would of converted before most, but then again this is orbx
Hi! Do you also have MSFS2020 Installed? I have only 2024 installed, and I purchased Fly Tampa’s Copenhagen via Orbx. I am unable to download it via the Discover Tab workaround. Thanks for the help.
Unfortunately, that tricks only if theres a 2024 updated version available, as theyre not automatically coming up in “my products”
I dont think “FlyTampa” has released any compatibility updates yet, in fact i emailed them a couple weeks ago, asking about this, and whether they still work with orbx, and they said they do work with them, but wont be doing updates until sometime in the new year. That being said, KBOS, LGAV, EGNJ seem to be working and are listed on contrail, why theyre not on orbx is weird though. (KBOS is on orbx)
In the first week, when our 2020 marketplace items were active, i flew from coppenhagen and it seemed to work, but was a night flight, and wasnt looking for issues. Hopefully a lot of devs will transfer their products when marketplace goes live, as several have mentioned theyre waiting for this.
Yes, I understand Fly Tampa will/ may eventually release a proper update. But, my KBOS works fine, I have heard Copenhagen “works” alright too. Obrx is being silly - I paid for a product knowing it may have some issues inside the sim, but I should be able to download it whenever I want, into a folder I want.
yeh i agree, we should still be able to “pull” them from the cloud whether the sim is installed or not. Since launch i have just ended up reinstalling 2020, so i can pull my old stuff, and to have a back up, as before the last update was getting a lot of CTD.
You could try this, not sure if it will work, but goto install 2020, let it download for 5-10min, so it puts the root directory in place, then pause it, shut the sim, goto central and see if it recognizes 2020 install, and installs your desired products, then copy them to 2024 community folder. Again, not sure if it works, but was going to be my next move, but i ended up putting 2020 back on due to all the crashes between patch 3 & 4
