When 2024 fails I just switch to 2020 and vice versa, glad to have both installed.

This issue is affecting the wider XBOX network and is therefore applicable to both MSFS 2024 and MSFS (2020) unfortunately.

Hey folks,

I’m seeing quite a few reports via the MSFS Discord server that this has now been resolved.

Can those of you who were experiencing this issue please try to re-launch and let me know if you’re now able to successfully launch either MSFS 2024 or MSFS (2020)?

It’s still crapping itself as of 1730 UTC. Periodically the connection drops, the entire thing hangs, then it comes back, only to die again a few minutes later. And every time it comes back the scenery is completely washed out for quite a while.

2024, US. Tried VPNing elsewhere and same thing happens.

Same here. No outwashed scenery, but pauses. I live in Innsbruck.

both Msfs 2020 and 24 are not progressing beyond the ‘launching game’ and the seconds timer starting and it gets stuck. Both games still for me.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: I took a brief break from MSFS 2024 last week. Starting on 9/1, I noticed recurrent losses of network connection to the servers. Eventually, after a variable time, it will say that the connection is reestablished, allow me to resume, and then do it again a variable time later.

I am having no other network connectivity problems. It is only MSFS 2024. I have verified symmetrical 1G/1G upload/download. Rolling cache has been increased from 16GB to 64GB without improvement.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Every time I leave the area that I know I already have cached.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Start a flight. (Example: KSAT.)

  2. Fly to another major area (example, KDAL)

  3. Watch as the system repeatedly loses its network connection and bails with a “trying to connect to your network” message.

What peripherals are you using:

[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it? No.

[PC Only] What GPU (Graphics Card) do you use? RTX 5090.

[PC Only] What other relevant PC specs can you share? Irrelevant. 1G/1G up/down connection which is working, just not with MSFS 2024 servers. Occurs whether or not I have a VPN running.

Just a “Connection to network lost” message. Eventually it will say “network connection restored,” allow me to resume, and then immediately complain that my “network connection is unstable.” Only to do it again.

Out of curiosity, I killed my rolling cache by setting it to 1GB then back up to 64GB. The thing performed better and I noticed it pulling some network traffic in spurts 5-7Mbps/sec, but then as I got near my destination in Illinois it crapped out again. This time there was no scenery at all. At that point it was back to maxing out at 0.1Mbps/sec.
