ISSUE DESCRIPTION
During the pre-flight phase on the classic Cessna 172 (non-G1000), I was able to remove the engine covers, static port cover, and pitot tube cover as expected. However, I was unable to remove the wheel chocks from any angle or position.
I had to switch to Normal Mode to remove the chocks, where they could be removed without any issues.
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE
I encountered this issue one time in VR mode. I didn’t try to reproduce it several times.
REPRODUCTION STEPS
-
Load a career mission with the classic Cessna 172 in VR mode.
-
Do the pre-flight check.
-
Try to remove the chocks.

A couple of things you could try: Crouching may help. Also, close your right eye. Most people are right eye dominant but I think some of these hit boxes are tuned to the left eye.
This is actually a bug reported during SU5 Beta whereby the click spots don’t work correctly, unfortunately it was never fixed in either SU5 beta nor SU5.1 beta (see history of regressions not being fixed by Asobo), it apparently is fixed in SU6 beta so all we can do is hope. In this instance you can indeed crouch to reach the chocks, but there are other default aircraft where it’s simply impossible to reach their click spots.
There is already a main thread relating to this game breaking issue, the question remains; Why was this bug allowed to get through to public release in the first place?
I don‘t think it is a real bug, just a poor implementation of a good idea. That idea was probably to make the walk-around click spots more realistic by requiring the Avatar to be close (like at arms length) to operate them.
Only, things were clearly overdone. Now we need to be REALLY close to the click spots in order to operate them. That is particularly noticable with the chocks. My remedy: 1. Crouch 2. While crouched, move in as close as possible 3. Lean forward until your (virtual) nose almost touches the chocks. And voilà: Suddenly the pointer turns into the hand and chocks can be removed!
I hope someone at MS / Asobo reads this and sends it up the chain of command. I don’t think it is overly difficult to fix the issue…
Either way it needed fixing during the initial SU5 beta when it was reported and logged, not months later leaving some aircraft pointless in walk around mouse.
I also experienced this via PS5 Pro with PSVR2, however not limited to Chocks, but Pita covers and engine covers as well. Actually anything that would need to be removed… Force to switch back to TV mode, then remove them all, then switch back to VR…
