Cant set an aircarft

Hey guys

I am new to this sim (played alot of FSX)
I want to start a session on a parking and cold&dark
For some reason no matter what parking I select and which aircraft I start on the runway with an A320.
In the hanger I do see the plane that I want to use but for some reason when hitting the fly button it discard my choice and bring me with an A320.
I tried to use the F18 and B747-8i that comes with the sim.

A flight session usually starts at the World Map. There you select the aircraft you want to use from the Aircraft box top left, also setting up fuel, payload etc.from the same sub-menu.

You then need to input your starting point - you can do this by clicking somewhere on the map and zooming in, where you can then select a parking ramp/gate. You can also select these from the search boxes at the top. Do the same for your destination and the World Map will then show you your basic flight plan - you don’t have to set a destination but then you won’t have a flight plan. You can also set up waypoints in a similar manner.

Then all you need to do is hit “Fly” and the sim should take you to yur departure point in the aircraft you select.

Of course there are other things you can do, including importing a flight plan, but this is a very simple way that will get you to the start.

Thanks for the help
Sadly this is exectly what I did yet every time I get to the same position (on a runway) and with A320.
Is there any settings that I might set by mistake or a tutorial needs to be completed before using the World Map?

Known bug. If you choose parking spot and then change aircraft or livery it will spawn you on runway.
So select your plane and or livery before parking spot.

Tired that, still didnt work.
I have uploaded a video showing the problem.

I appreciate the will to help.

Weird issue since you are following the correct steps to avoid the known issue mentioned above.
Do you have any addons installed ?
Could you test with running the sim in safe mode (it will disable your community and marketplace addons if any) ?: once in the sim, go to your Windows Task manager and terminate msfs.exe. Restart the sim and you’ll get the safe mode option.

Did you have issues downloading MSFS and have to restart? If so I guess it’s possible you have a double or partial install. That or you are using an incorrectly set up addon linker or something

Tried it, same on safe mode.
I have installed PMDG 737 and one scenery.

Yes, the download took ages and had a few pauses, if this is the case how can I fix it?
Reinstalling is a bad option as it will take ages again to download and might pause again.

Ok, thanks for having tried. As per the tags, I am seeing you are using a PC/ms-store version right ?. On your video we can see an Xbox controller so I assume you have one connected and not a regular joystick. Could you disconnect that Xbox controller and start the sim by just using the mouse to start a flight ?

I can only suggest a reinstall, you may find it better downloading overnight. … and use an ethernet cable rather than wifi

I actually uses Xbox app (I uses gamepass so it is inclueded there)
I uses ms-store because there is no Xbox app tag.

There is no controller connected, only mouse and keyboard

Well I will use it as last resort, I have seen the advise of using cable but why would it be any different? (My other downloads are much faster)

Why is the moon made of cheese? … I don’t know who or what else uses wifi in your environment, but poor wifi can cause downloads to abort … suggest you use Lan for the download, you can always switch later.

I doubt your other downloads are as big as MSFS with all it’s content

Well I will try reinstalling, sure the of other downloads isnt the same but speeds are much higher.

@SirLordBucket

1 Exit MSFS.

2 Go to
C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\MISSIONS\Custom

3 Delete folder named CustomFlight

4 Install English (United States) language pack

5 Checkbox Beta: Use UTF-8 for worldwide language support
Go to
Control Panel > Region > Administrative tab

Change system locale > checkbox “beta: use unicode UTF-8”

Click OK > restart now

6 Launch MSFS
