When I try to spawn into a London airport, say Heathrow. The sim sits at the loading screen with the blue bar moving VERY slowly towards the right. I’ve left it like this for 15 mins once, and in the end had to CTRL/ALT/DEL and close it down. Same happens when i even try to spawn into the air over London.
I know this is down to an addon, because it works fine with an empty community folder.
But what I want to ask, before I start the painful process of going through all my addons to see what one is causing it, does anyone know of any specific airports, addons that may be causing this? Thanks.
I’d say it’s about 95% likely it’s a scenery add on, and one specific to that geographic region. Remove all your scenery add-ons for that region. Add them back 1-2 at a time until you find the offending one.
You don’t need to remove stuff like planes, WT mods, liveries, etc. Just the scenery addons for the London area.
Suspecting a specific bug, my advice would be flying somewhere else until you installed SU7 tomorrow (or later) then checking if the problem persists.
I’m having this with Luton airport on pc which I got via marketplace
One ‘trick’ that might resolve the problem in advance of Sim Update 7 tomorrow is to try deleting the scenery index files and then re-run MSFS, which will regenerate the files.
For the MS Store version these files are located in:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\SceneryIndexes
The files you want to delete are all called Filelistxxxx.dat
This may not work, but has resolved some loading issues for others with this issue.
This is happening in my game anywhere near Washington DC and now I’m pretty sure it’s crashing to desktop anywhere.
Had this exact same problem using “uk vessels south east” they had heard of this and were looking into it but as a work around said to disable “bing data world graphics” before loading in then to turn it back on after … it did work
The DC area bug has been discussed extensively in a specific thread here immediately after SU6 was released. Some very persistent folks traced it down to one specific file. If that file is removed or renamed, the crashes stop. Unfortunately, that file is related to rendering a number of airport buildings. The MS/Asobo team was made aware of the bug and confirmed the source. Hopefully that will get fixed with this morning’s update.
