Can't start a flight, just get a loading circle when clicking 'start flight'

Changed to “North Europe” Server, seems to at least load now

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes

• UK based. After eventually getting past the 97% issue any attempt to actually take a free flight is not working. Looks like it is starting the flight but never zooms in to plane and white circle constantly visible. Only way out is ESC. Over 24 hours and I’ve never got as far as the walkaround never mind actually flying an aircraft.

Now its working for me and its AMAZING!!! Nice sim!!!

Same issue for me, from the UK, i cannot start a flight, sometimes it crashes other the loading will just spins forever.

Same issue, spinning circle in bottom right trying free flight or even training

UK based, I can corroborate this. If I start the sim bare to my ISP, I cannot even get into the menus, either getting stuck between 7% or 97% or CTD around 70-80% load completion.
When I activate my VPN, connecting to East US servers, the sim loads fairly quickly, where I can get to the menus and even fly!

• can’t start a flight, activity, career, etc. I had the same issue with the alpha release. I could not fly during the alpha and now with current release.

Same issues in the Netherlands. Takes too long to load. Missing textures. Scenery looks like Minecraft. I landed on runways that were barely visible because they didn’t load 100% etc. I have a gigabit connection, but still long loading times…

• Yes. After clicking fly now, the earth image shows and nothing happens. Not even an active loading circle. Internetspeed 250 250 mbits

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Not able to zoom in on world map. Zooming in results in blurred green image without details

It was gone (i.e I had 1 successful flight hurrah!) for a few hours but now its back. Cannot start a flight anymore.

I finally got to do one flight today, and when it works it’s very impressive, but the speed of the connection was very intermittent and often the ground would not load properly, still getting the message of low bandwidth. Ground texture for most of the flight were blurred and severely deformed too. Also the texture on my airbus were flickering and there was red man sticking out of the flight, just a red siluet.

I am so fed up, London UK (SAME server that seemed to go down all the time in msfs2020? )

If i try load a a330, it takes around 30 minutes.

70mbps download.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• UK Based 300 mbps internet connection. Low bandwisth warnings and occasional message saying connection was lost then restored.

• When using a VPN to switch to a US server it will work, but is slow and not a fix

It’s a mess this time.
I live in Germany, too and have a perfectly fine working 250 mpbs connection. Yesterday and today I was at least able to start the simulator and navigate within the main menu. Loading times were too long to start/enjoy a flight though and if I succeeded to start a flight somewhere, the textures seemed to be about one pixel/km². :face_holding_back_tears:.

Today I succeed to at least load playable flights by using a VPN as well.

Guys, here is what worked for me. Let me know if it works for you too. I had a friend tell me to do this and I loaded into the sim and I could LOAD INTO AN AIRPORT!

Goto C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

In there is file named “hosts” make a copy of it as a backup and goto your windows search bar in the taskbar, type in “Notepad”. Right click and select “Run as administrator”. Then in notepad click “file” and then “open”.

Goto C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and in the drop box where it says “text documents” select “all files”. Then open the file “hosts” delete ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING in that file so it is completely blank. Then click “File” in the top left and make sure you click “Save”.

That’s it. Load up the sim.

This worked for me, I hope it works for you.

No such file in my Windows/System32/drrivers folder, so that rather puts that idea to bed, although thanks for posting your experience.

It’s in the “etc” folder. Did you look in there? The actual file is not in the “drivers” folder. The theory my friend has is that the IP addresses and websites in that file were misguiding where to pull data from for the sim which would make sense because the stuff in there had websites from azure and other satellite data websites.
