I am running Nitro 5 with 16 GB RAM, nvidia geforce gtx 1050 ti GPU and intel(r) core™ i5-8300h cpu @ 2.30ghz CPU. Running the steam version of FS2020. before this update I had my graphics at Medium and it was running just fine (high and ultra make the game too laggy so I always had it on medium graphics)
After i competed the 40+ GB update yesterday, i started to have warnings about internet connection not existing (which it did exist), then that error is gone and I ran into a bigger problem, the game will keep crashing mostly on the initial load (before getting to main screen), and if i get to the main screen it will crash after i load the game, especially in cockpit view. That is one thing i noticed, because i selected one of the tours, (Pyramids tour) which initially starts in outside view, and it does not crash, but once I switch to cockpit view it freezes and then crashes to Desktop.
Oh I forgot to mention that I completely removed and then fresh- installed FS2020 after this update problem, same no change.
Obviously this problem related to the update, I have noticed others having performance problems after the update , but nothing like mine, they are just complaining about slow performance, for me I can’t even have it running it keeps crashing. Hope they come with a patch soon to fix this.
I haven’t had a MSFS crash in months. Now I did the new successful update and it crashes randomly. I reboot and try again and it crashes. I haven’t completed a flight since the update. Now what?
I have had crashes too (never before) and the worst part is that after a while in a flight Gpu load drops and makes the sim unusable (when Gpu Load drops fps goes down to 10)…In su4 everything was fine and smooth
Same here, but not even managed to start a flight since this “upgrade”.
Randomly crashes straight to desktop (without any error messages at all)
Usually while setting up aircraft or setting route but, even if I get as far as the “fly” button invariably crashes after pressing that before loading flight.
System spec:
i5-9400F
16GB RAM
Nvidia GTX1660 - Driver 471.41
Windows 10 Home Version 21H1 Build 19043.1110
Is there any way of reverting sim to pre-update (WORKING) state? As it stands sim is literally unusable.
Same here as well, I have two machines I tested it - no mods - empty community folder - bopth working great with zero crashes before - no overclocking:
System 1:
AMD 5900x
64 GB Ram
SSD
RTX 3090
This one is intendted for VR with HP Reverb G2. The game constantly freezes or makes pausses or I have to close it all.
System 2:
AMD 3700X
SSD
32GB Ram
1080TI
This system does not even let me in the game, after i changed settings to high on everything, it closes the window on the loading screen at the start. - Also it was crashing all the time during the patch download, the window was just closing, and I already had the fps limited to 20 fps, because of the crazy “lets use 100% of your graphic card during download” thing.
What I do not understand by now:
How come they still have not implemented somekind of automatic error log system that you just can send, instead they want you to create tickets and play detective for them.
How come you still have to do such ridiculous things like empty the community folder?
There is no way they did not notice this during beta, and they still released it for PC? DId they expect the reaction to be less controversial than postponing it?
I just hope they dont pet themselves on the back during the next twitch video again and pretend they could not see the problems during their testing. The beta testing was supposed to make things better, looks like it made it worse, how can that be?
The crazy lets use as much power as we can during the patch download - really? Still no change since release?
Most annoying of all is that boast on the opening splash sreen (which still seems to work)
“NOW LANDING ON XBOX”
Just a shame that its “Now Crashing On PCs”
(Or is it just a cunning plan to force us to now buy their “exclusive” and expensive consoles if we still wish to fly their product?)
Do we now have to wait another whole month in the hope of some sort of fix? Surely, at very least, MS/Aso-boo should at least consider putting up an immediate “roll-back” option to the last version for the MANY who have been disabled by this disaster of an"upgrade". While the promised 50-60 fps would have been amazing, even the old school 20-30 would be preferable to the zero fps available at the moment.
Following all of the advice I have ensured all drivers are updated, emptied the community folder, throttled back FPS Limit to 30, tried various airports, rebooted with nothing else running etc (even if it gets so far as the “Fly” button). All to no avail at all so far.
It may be old and it may be slow but thank the lord I still have XP for my regular aviation fix.
