Can't use MSFS since SU13 was downloaded. Blue loading bar sticks at 100%

Ever since the recent Sim Update 13, MSFS gets to 100% on the blue bar and it just stays there, I’ve even tried leaving it overnight… I’ve run Scannow and tried CCleaner but still no joy and also tried a complete vanilla update, well, I had to as I found out that getting steam to validate the files just wiped the LOT! The only way I can now get it to load successfully is by disconnecting our internet and it then loads after about another 30 seconds.

It takes ages for the 3 category pics to load in turn (Discovery Flights / Landing Challenges / Bush Trips) and then even longer for the background to complete. If I switch between windowed and FS mode it draws them all again and then just sits there doing nothing again.

The screen it sticks on it exactly as shown in thread New install won't load after successfully checking for updates/downloading sim (blue loading bar stuck at 100%)

I’ve checked everything I can think of, all drivers are up to date, I’ve deleted all addons and still the only way to successfully load it is by killing the router.

Task Manager shows MSFS just sat using 13% of CPU and over 3.5GB of memory constantly. My Internet is absolutely DIRE - due to my location I max out my d/l at about 140KB/s. This never used to cause a startup / loading issue until the latest SU so can’t see it being the cause of this??

I’ve seen a few other threads with similar issues but all seem to have fizzled out with no successful resolution.

Many thanks for any help,
Dave

For real, that’s your max speed?
Not being mean but really can’t see how you can run this game at all with that. What did you do before? Bing data and all online functionality set to off? In that state it looks worse than last gen sims I’d say.

Anyway, some things you could try which you might not have yet:

  1. Delete contents of /SceneryIndexes (but as you’ve done a fresh install I doubt it’s this, but could have been some remnants there unless you actually fully uninstalled it first).
  2. Clear DX Caches (not only the ones in Disk Cleanup, but there are 2 more folders hidden away. Can’t remember off top of my head but if you need further instructions write back and I’ll see what I can find).
  3. Downgrade to olden Nvidia driver (if you have latest one, it might just not like it).
  4. Sign out and back in to Xbox Gaming Services.
  5. Refresh / repair all .net packages. There is a batch file somewhere that runs through them all for you but again can’t remember where it is (I’m on my phone now so not easy to check).

Sadly, yes, that’s my max speed. Ever since BT had a regional outage here, it’s gone from 2.5Mb/s/ to that and I’ve frankly given up trying to get my ISP (Eclipse Internet) to sort it. They used to be brilliant but ever since they went corporate they’ve gone down the pan big style. Looking to move soon so hopefully will get a better and faster provider. Won’t touch them ever again, been with them 17 years and I believe in loyalty but seemingly they don’t.

1). Scenery Indexes is fresh as of the new install.
2). Pass but will investigate
3). Was working fine prior to SU13. SU13 seems to have bricked the whole lot.
4). Running on Steam.
5). Will give that a go, thanks!

Dave.

Ouch that is painful. Get moved asap!!

  1. Check it anyway. Root of installation folder, SceneryIndexes folder. Go inside, select all snd delete
  2. Here (not the guide I was looking for but should get you there): Nvidia Shader Cache folder gone!

3. What driver version are you on?
4. You still have to log in to MS account even with steam. Think you can follow section half way down this page titled “XBOX SERVICES”: https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019967600-How-to-fix-Xbox-Live-Sign-In-issues

Sincere thanks - I tried everything on here piece by piece and still no joy.

Thinking it could be due to stupidly slow internet, I tethered my phone to the PC instead of the router and even at H+/4G (dodgy coverage here in the sticks even though we’re on top of a hill) it gave me faster than we ever had via Ethernet but still no joy…

The INSTANT I unplugged the phone (router as off so we had no internet) it loaded…

I have seen very occasional reports on the forums of similar but I can’t recall a solution to it.

Might take my PC into work this week and do a complete start from scratch install of MSFS using their connection to see if this gives me any joy.

Thanks again
Dave

Yes so have I but I can’t remember the outcome either. Maybe someone will be in to help soon!!! ??? :frowning:

I would t waste your time. The software is fine. Fact it loads if you disconnect the net means it has to be something with that connection causing it. I think it must be the speed. Strangely and paradoxically I have super fast net and since a few weeks suddenly THAT is a problem with CTD’s. I have had to LIMIT my network card speed to act as a workaround until Asobo pull their finger out. I am guessing your issues is a similar ball game - changes on the server back-end :frowning:

I left it overnight just to see what it would do…
10pm-12am, just sat on the loading screen with full blue bar.
Sometime between midnight & 6am it did what it was supposed to do and finally loaded the sim.
From logs, it doesn’t seem that there was any significant internet use but I guess something must have happened.
Will give it another go tonight and will then bring it to work to try on a faster (10MB/s) connection and see how much of a difference that makes but even when we were on 2.5Mb/s rather than 1.2Mb/s it still loaded winthin a couple of minutes despite the low bandwidth warning.

Final update…!
Work’s 70Mb/s connection was to its liking - it never missed a beat checking for updates or loading. I therefore downloaded all world updates and addons I wanted and also turned off the data in the in-sim menu.

Tried it at home tonight with the data still turned off and it loaded in a flash (as it wasn’t checking for updates etc) so it does indeed seem to be my snail pace connection or something in the loading process that doesn’t hook up to the connection properly.

It was happy for me to turn the data back on once in the sim so this looks like the workaround for me until I get a better connection, just need to remember to turn the data off before I exit each time!

Cheers muchly for the help and suggestions Baracus, it has been very much appreciated.
