Caranado Ovation

Do people who buy this aircraft know it will not work before they pay ?

What does this statement even mean?

The planes Caranado have delivered so far have been “classic” Caranado - beautiful modelling with core systems included and a nice flight model.

Perfect for casual simmers like myself. The community might not agree but the truth is for many these planes fit 90% of peoples requirements. Not everybody cares about study sims and the hassle that comes with them.

That means this guy likes to flood the forum with empty posts that complain.

Hey, (insert a demeaning name here)… Carenado has submitted 1.2 of Ovation to MS. It should be up shortly after MS reviews it. Go have a cookie.

Here’s NOTAM a real world pilot on YouTube who does some very thorough reviews and has reviewed the Mooney M20R Ovation. If you still think the plane is broken after this review then I don’t know what else to say. https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/ZlfeAXi_-Tw

This video is 2 months old.

I think one of the last two patches broke the mooney and carenado said they will fix it.. I think to OP created this thread in regards to this.

(if it already has been fixed or not, i don’t know.. just wanted to clarify things)

I think you miss the point .I’m not being nasty here just posing a thought. I like the aircraft but I’m sure you know it hasn’t worked since the last major update and I would’t expect it to be offered for sale until it is fixed. You would’t buy an item from a shop that didn’t work , a download should be the same .
There was a farmstrips scenery package sold on steam I purchased that would never work but I only found out after buying it and discovering that know one else had got it to work either. It’s just disappointing to have that happen.

There’s 15 threads about this and how there’s an update. I own the plane and experience the issue as well, and without even actively searching threads out, come across people complaining about it despite there being an update and explanation from Carenado.

Then again you don’t even specify the issue so who knows.

They have their own forums and website by the way.

Totally broken, won’t fly, unusable. All of those statements are not helpful in terms of identifying specific problems, and are also not true. I just had a very successful flight with the Mooney.

I have heard about clicking on knobs of instruments causing CTD’s, but using the mouse wheel working. Not enjoying the long loading times as much as anyone else, I did not bother to “Test” this bug. The transponder still does not work as it should, but all of the other avionics, including GPS, did work, and I did not see any other problems during a short, but enjoyable flight. To be fair, for the altimeter, radio frequency, and VOR knobs I use the Saitek radio panel, rather than the mouse wheel.

Ok thank you for the response. My first point was regarding to what the post actually meant. You didn’t provide any context and while there might be other posts on here, many of us wouldn’t be unware of the current issues with this plane.

Sorry . My fault for thinking it was a universal problem but I was really impressed with the Ovation especially as it had the steam gauges. Flew like a dream. Now you get a CTD as soon as you touch the heading knob. If anyone knows of a patch for this please let me know.

Use the mouse wheel or keyboard assignment for now. Let’s hope with the update next week the mooney gets updated as well

I don’t agree with the notion that just because a piece of software has bugs it should be sold at a discount. What logic is that ?
Bug can be patched, and you then use a fully perfect software. This is not the case with hardware sold.
Issue with physical products can’t be sorted after it’s sold and hence the discount makes sense for it.

There’s an update for the Mooney, Carenado have passed it to Microsoft and we’re just waiting for it to be released to Marketplace. Saw a Facebook post about it earlier today posted in the FS forum.

Thanks for the info , that is good to here

good news, as Caranedo is known for not updating their products.

Why do you click the knob? There’s absolutely no need to click it, use the mouse wheel. It’s even better to rotate the knobs with the mouse wheel. I never click, always mouse wheel.

I did not say ’ click ’ if you read my words I said touch . As far as my experience is concerned when the heading knob is moved by the mouse the program crashes back to the desktop but this is besides the point, Carendo acknowledges the fault and is reportedly working on it.

If you have the Honeycomb yoke the knobs move in 10 degree increments instead of 1, so yes there is a need to click.

Very good

Nope, before yesterday’s update it only crashed if you CLICKED the knob, not if you used the mouse wheel to scroll it. Dunno after the patch if it the same.
