I honestly dont know who is responsible for the nonsensical ATC, runway dings, performance dings, hold short changes just as you are about to get there, etc, etc. Is it AI or humans making a mess of the whole Career section. Now I understand they are going to add cloud dings after SU3! How the hell can anyone see how far away or near to a cloud you are. Even seriously whispy clouds give you dings - why is that even a thing?
Honestly, instead of encouraging folk to enjoy the SIM it almost feels like they take every opportunity to punish you.
Man, I so agree with you!
Cloud dings in SU3? I already got it yesterday in helicopter missions in the live SU2 version. If planes are also going to get this then VFR will be very bad.
I just had a mission (VIP in Vision Jet) that had me take off with a tail wind, and then land with a tail wind. It was a very short runway with a hill and trees directly in front of the approach. It was steep and fast, so I ended up going off the end of the runway before stopping. Minor undercarriage damage, but there are so many problems that make this beautiful sim a PITA.
Same here! I fly to the airport, following the flight plan I filed to ATC (VFR though), when I am near, I hit āenterā to announce landing, notice that it is not as planned, I choose the right one from the communication panel, then everything goes as planned, I announce on final, land, and get dinged for landing in undesignated area, get no bonus, and almost no money for a 2hr flight :\ super annoying bug!!!
The undesignated area is about the distance from the 2 fat runway markers that you have landed from and in the centreline. Not which runway you choose.
Your mission ended which means you went through the FINAL runway marker. This always means it is the right runway otherwise the mission would not end.

ā¢It is driving me nuts. In Career mode missions I get assigned take off and landings with the wind constantly. If these are AI generated the code is bad, if people are making these missions they donāt understand wind direction vs which runway to assign. The worse part is that when I modify the flight plan to use correct run ways for weather conditions and upload to ATC/airplane for IFR, the mission will frequently bug out and not allow completion because I can never announce landing and get permission to land. I really love career mode, but it could be so much more if it worked properly.

It will almost never give you the runway you want in the EFB before the mission. The only way around this is to turn the live weather off for your mission. They have a long way to go to fix Career mode. No focus is being given to it at the moment because the stability of the game is still not quite there. At some point they will give it attention we all hope.
So in almost every mission there are now some areas of reduced visibility like haze. Technically, VFR requires a minimum visibility even in those condtions, apart from any well defined cloud separation requirements. How is one suppose to determing visibility when well outside the range of any reports available from airport observations?
Regarding runway assignments, etc, I donāt ever assume that I can change the default flight plan as loaded into the EFB from the prompt. If its a tailwind, so be it. They are usually not more than 6 knots. This usually works out, except when I hear ATC assigning me a different runway for landing - I have followed that request then been dinged for landing on wrong runway, so I guess itās best to just follow everything in the default flight plan to the letter.

Yes

Seems to only happen after ATC tells me to switch to VFR. I then use COM input panel to switch the runway back, only to have ATC change it again. Keeps happening until I announce Iām on Final Approach.

If itās what I have observed - itās when you use the quick action button (enter on keyboard unless you rebound it), if you have ever done it with the comms window open, you will see that pressing that button runs a macro stepping through the stages of selecting an arrival runway, and itās this bit that actually changes the runway to the one initially set in the mission (not the EFB or ATC directed one).
The workaround is to either select your runway manually using the comms window (which is less convenient but not horribly so) or to after you hit the quick reply button, open the comms window and there is usually a Select Different Runway For Landing option (I donāt remember the exact wording) that you can use to change it back pretty much any time up until you touchdown. Just beware that hitting the quick action button may change it to the wrong one again which is a bit annoyingā¦

⢠Yes.

⢠The issue still persists and affects ALL Medium Cargo missions (at least) on Xbox. The āmission stepsā window changes the landing runway at the last minute just before touchdown. In the video below, I specifically chose runway 27 via the ATC panel, it was also planned automatically in the EFB, yet the game wanted a change right at the very last moment. Even though wind direction favoured runway 27. Look at the Mission Steps window in my clip. ![]()
