I was able to do medium cargo missions reasonably well after that bug, with somewhat less choice, but manageable. Same true for passenger transport missions, I moved to 737 after that bug, but I found enough passenger missions to go with. So these two seem to be viable currently, with possibly less choice.
As for the VIP, quite honestly, that was buggy even before that, I only had some VIP (small) missions in specific locations, the same ones always and have never found any more. I guess now those are gone as well, so its even worse. And there were/are no medium VIP missions, I’ve never actually seen one apart from the golden one to unlock it (nor employee, nor freelance), even though I own airplanes for them over a month (king air, cj4) and have a large portion of the world unlocked. That already had a bug thread about it.
