Career Missions - Towing and Skydive - Faster performance appears to yield lower scores

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
In career missions for skydiving and banner tows, I’m experiencing lower scores when I complete the mission seemingly faster than par time. In the debrief dialog at parking, I’m told in banner tows I probably had trouble capturing the banner, yet I probably captured it or finished the mission too fast. In skydiving, I’m scolded by the mission master to improve the turn around rolls because it’s getting dark or wasting time.

It appears the time-based scoring is from 100%=par time, where 75% par (faster) and 125% par (slower) are both penalized the same way (not necessarily the same amount of penalty).

Also, not sure about pass performance scoring either because I flew the pass parameters - 0.5nm from beach, 600ft, and no more than 72kts and into the wind, but got the radio notice “if you orient the plane just right, you can improve the banner visibility for the beach”. If I do something out of the ‘pass parameter’ spec to improve the banner (it droops at slower speeds-can tinker with AOA orientation and it might improve banner look), it would/should harm the score.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
N/A-no community mods.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
Every time flying a skydiving or banner tow mission.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Career mode - advance with proper licenses and skill experience.
  2. Start a skydiving or banner tow mission - note the time in the HUD mission card.
  3. Push the plane to climb higher and faster, undercut turns as shown in the visual navigation aids - save time.
  4. Complete under noted mission time and end mission to review final score.

• same think happens to me when i first tried the skydiving mission i have followed the path and had 0% on realization time, next time i climbed as fast as possible and then landed asap and got another 0%

It is such a software developer thing to do to use the delta so the faster you do it is punished as well lol. The calculation is probably the absolute value of the difference. Because someone didn’t bother testing it lmao. Unit testing anyone?

yeah, I code and understand it’s pro-rata off the par, except one side is also acceptable.

it would make sense if someone coding it didn’t understand the objective; “the same time as” vs “as fast or faster than” is successful.

With skydiving to get 100% time bonus you need to ignore the flight path given. You will notice it isn’t a requirement for the scoring to remain on path.

  1. Take off.
  2. Climb instantly to the drop off in a tight spiral climb.
  3. After dropping off the divers immediatly cut the engine and do a spiral dive before lining up with Final to land.

By doing this you can get your A-S Rank. The AI even congratulates you on keeping costs down by saving fuel for the company.

I do go out about 7-8nm climbing as fast as VS allows, then back the 7-8nm with about 1nm to spare to altitude spec before jump zone- like, it isn’t a spiral but it is up asap. And drop power to descend with about 6-7nm out from jump zone then back toward airport back into the pattern.

If the score specs are based on horizontal traversal from airport (further out, lower score) or time taken, in any case, it should be clarified.

This is actually the fastest way to get to altitude as climbing in a bank will be slower than climbing in a straight line.

Climb at Vy speed (on the speed tape) for optimum climb to time performance (Vx is optimum climb to distance performance - obstacles).

Also lean the mixture as you gain altitude (lean until your rpm’s peak).

already do that anyway, including fuel lean-mixture.

this time, I zig-zagged up the ladder within 2-3 nm of the jump zone; which Z-2000ft messed up the ‘2 minute callout’; flew through the zone and they jumped, then zig-zag descent within about 5-6 nm of the final marker and landed. Checked the score - 24% and yelled at.

This evaluation needs to be clarified or adjusted. It seems very specific (getting AI evaluation vibes in different areas, including this mission type).
