Description of the issue:
I accepted a career mission that was LIFR in both locations and required an IFR flight plan to complete. I filed, and flew the entire enroute portion of the flight normally with no issues. About 5 miles out from the FAF, ATC told me that I could cancel IFR and proceed VFR - and would not issue any further instructions/clearances, and the mission window told me to “Press enter to cancel IFR” despite being IMC. The only way I could get the mission to progress was to cancel IFR and fly the RNAV to get below the weather (C172 G1000). With the autopilot engaged, selecting “PROC” and then “Activate Approach”, I saw what I expected to see in terms of the glideslope and approach guidance for about 3 seconds until the sim gave an error of “You can’t complete the rest of the flight and will be returned to where you started.”
After having wasted about 2 hours of time, you’ll have to forgive me for not writing down the error code if there was one. Alt and F4 came fairly swiftly after that. If there’s a way to check the logs for that, I can do so.
I am fairly disappointed in the actual mechanics of the way career mode works. I really like the idea and would absolutely sink major time in it if the bugs were addressed. I’ve had several cases of buggy deviations and deductions for following taxi instructions to cross a runway and getting dinged for “Entering a runway without clearance” or being on the runway and being accosted for apparently “entering a taxiway without clearance.” It’s frustrating sometimes.

I’ve nothing in mods or community addons.

This specific issue was a one time event.
REPRODUCTION STEPS
Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:
- Accept a mission and edit the route in the EFB, with an instrument approach selected. Send the route to ATC and plane avionics. I used a C172 G1000
- Fly the IFR clearance until ATC tells you that you’re able to cancel IFR and proceed VFR. You’re forced to cancel at that point.
- Continue to try and fly the approach in the plane by boinking “PROC” followed by “Activate Approach”
- Fly the prescribed guidance until the sim tells you that you can’t continue the flight.
