With the career missions being auto-generated, I’m not sure how Asobo will ever be able to squash all of these career mode bugs without some in-sim option to report bugs of a mission and send the relevant mission details to Asobo as a bug report.
My thoughts on how this could work:
- On the mission completion screen or after aborting a mission, include a “report bug” option that allows a brief description or multiple-choice option of the problem the mission had and sends the info to Asobo.
- If a bug is reported, treat the mission as aborted, so no penalties to reputation or aircraft damage is given to the player.
I’ve been flying most missions as an employee, so luckily when I lost an aircraft immediately after starting a mission, all it cost me was reputation. But many of these bugs, such as aircraft spawning where they will immediately be destroyed, misplaced hold short areas, helipads given as destinations for airplanes, etc. are specific to the airports… without excluding these airports or manually fixing them, I’m not sure how they will ever get fixed.
Sure, this could be abused by players who crash their own aircraft by doing something stupid and then claim it was a bug so they don’t get penalized, but just as many online games allow you to report possible cheaters, I think allowing players to report mission bugs would be the fastest way to get a bunch of data on a lot of the things wrong with career missions (and a lot of things wrong with airports such as invisible walls, pathing issues or terrain issues).
I don’t think career mode will ever be perfect, but wasting time on a mission only to have it fail is much more palatable if you can actually take some action and report the mission had an issue.
