As for your costs charts, please take in account the plane is discounted by 90% for any company you are opening first.
It’s more profitable to skip flightseeing company (1k + 23k) and aim for cargo company (10k + 23k).
Cargo missions will profit you for about 90-110k per one flight instead of 30k for flightseeing mission.
This is quite a big difference taking in account you’ve got almost no free credits when you’re starting your first company in career mode.
So instead of doing roughly 30k * 10 times for earning you another C172 with flightseeing company, you make about 3-4 flights with cargo missions and this will earn you about 300-400k. Out of these earning you can spend about 100k to fix some of the components on your first plane and buy another C172 to expand your fleet for about 280k.
Another advantage of this approach is the fact cargo missions allow you to open new areas on the map cause you travel from one point to another and this expands list of available missions for you to choose from.
Please let me know if you can hire pilots to fly other planes because if its possible, I’ll start playing again asap. I want the “manager” mode feel to career mode if im gonna buy a company and own multiple aircraft. it would make sense to have those birds being flown buy hired pilots especially when i personally dont feel like flying but still want to enjoy the game. I would definitely do some serious grinding. If i own multiple planes but they only move when i fly them the game will get boring real quick. Sometimes we wanna fly and Sometimes we just wanna manage our “companies”.
Many people have done this and still not gotten passive income. Our current best guess is that if the two aircraft, one for crew on, and one for yourself aircraft are in the same company it’s bugged. That’s just a guess though.
There are still some bugs going on for sure, but I think somebody mentioned that if any aspect of your plane needs maintenance the AI won’t generate income for them.
Personally I was getting charged ridiculous amounts for insurance even though I had one plane on the cheapest option and one on the middle option. I had like 63K in credits saved and had over 60K in Insurance bills. And that was on a day where I only flew a couple of hours.
Not true, each time I have given my employee a maintained plane and I took the time to manually verify every single part underneath subsystems since the maintenance UI lies to you. So it has to be something else.
You can change location at any time, if you have the $$$$.
Also a tip, if you just want to poke around, only Fast Travel with your “avatar” since it’s cheaper. Once you find a good area, you can transfer your plane but avatar transfer is not required after your plane is relocated.
I did not say it was the only reason for not getting Passive income. It could be a bug or something else. I was just throwing out one reason hat I have heard.
Two companies. 4 planes total. I had all planes set to crew on. I personally flew a total of 16 hours between Friday and Saturday. As of Sunday morning have had 0 income from crew on. Will see what happens this evening. But pretty annoying so far.
So far I’ve read that you have to have crew off to earn passive income. Also read you have to have crew on for passive income. I’ve tried both, and tried relocating my plane to one of the sightseeing hotspots. All I receive every day is an empty placard popup with no text, not charging insurance but not earning $$$. If other users are getting 80k/day, I’m really missing out… Just another bug
mark the plane that you want to get passive income from as Crew On
mark the other plane Crew Off and fly it on missions, either freelance or employee.
Passive income is credited every 24 hours (maybe), it might be that income is credited at the start of a new day based on UTC. (You can sort the Account History by date.)
I set up my companies like this earlier today, so I won’t know if this actually works until tomorrow. I’ll update this reply then.
Cheers
UPDATE
The payout happens at the start of the day based UTC.
Although I agree with your assesment of the state of the game, I didn’t expect anything different from 2020. The developers are still Microsoft/Asobo. However, despite the overwhelming amount of “bugs” the game has, I still find it satisfying.
I never considered that I’d play any of the activities in 2024 except rescue or firefighting missions. Since those are embedded in the Career minigame, I have since spent time with the career mode. I find that I enjoy it. It’s not an abnormal grind as many people have posted about, but all the bugs are indeed real, repeatable, and have already happened to me too.
I wonder how long it will take for me to see if I receive any passive income, as I only started a cargo company on Saturday. Nothing for today at least, and I’ve spent at least 12 hrs as Employee medical transport pilot since then.
Like 2020 before, all the frustrations I have are mitigated by the wonderful simulated flying experience that MSFS 2024 provides overall. I’m one of the lucky ones that is actually able to log in and run the game (between CTD’s).
I’m hoping the Crew on my company plane unlocks the areas that they have flown to. That is reason enough for me to grind for more aircraft assets if they contribute to unlocking more locations.
I used to almost be addicted to multiplayer group flights. However, with the pending implementation of wake turbulence and wingtip vortex, I avoid multiplayer now. Too many players intentionally fly in a manner to troll other players. Career mode provides me with satisfying goals and achievements with almost unlimited incentives to fly in and explore different regions. (The non-regenerating missions is not a bug I’ve experienced yet).
So, Career mode and the Company minigames provide me an escape from multiplayer trolls, and I still enjoy it in it’s current open beta development state.
We are planning to release a patch next week (week of December 2) which will include stability improvements and some other fixes.
A larger patch is planned for the following week (week of December 9).
Our next Developer Livestream is scheduled for Wednesday, December 4 at 10:30am PST (1830 UTC). As always, you can tune in at our official Twitch channel to hear the panel address many of the top concerns and answer questions from the community.
Whether things get resolved or whether they address anything substantial in the live stream remains to be seen but it is not like they have not been communicating.
