Hi everyone,
I am writing this post not to vent my anger, but in the mild hope that someone in the QA department will actually test this specific career bottleneck before the next update.
The very first Scientific Research Mission in Career Mode forces players into a Tornado cell using the Edgley EA-7 Optica. To put it gently: whoever paired this ultra-light, underpowered observation glider with the simulator’s maximum weather physics deserves a medal for creative frustration design.
The Facts:
- The Setup: First mandatory research mission, forced to use the Edgley Optica.
- The Constraints: Strict limits on speed (max 66 knots) and altitude.
- The Reality: The tornado’s thermal simulation tosses the lightweight Optica around like a leaf in a washing machine. Bank angles become so extreme that the auto-protection instantly disengages the autopilot. Manual counter-steering either causes an immediate stall or immediately breaches the 66-knot speed limit.
When looking at older gameplay videos of this mission, the weather engine seemed to behave in a way that actually resembled aerodynamics. Right now, it feels less like a flight simulator and more like an unintended physics engine stress-test. Since the Career Mode strictly locks all assistance options, there is no way to mitigate this.
As this is the very first mission of this branch, it completely blocks any further progress in scientific research.
Please, Asobo/Microsoft, take a look at the weather scaling or allow the system to allocate a more robust aircraft (like the Grand Caravan) for this entry-level mission. We want to fly a research protocol, not audition for a stunt-pilot movie.
Thanks for looking into this and leveling the playing field again.
