Does sim rate still work in career mode? It didn’t work for me last time I tried it.
Still works
It works fine but some planes can’t do X4 and are at best X2 only
I think it depends on the weather. At the highest rate ir’s easy that any bump from wind will send you into oscillations and you need to reduce the sim rate one step until it levels out again, in bad cases even two.
Haven’t flown many different planes, but so far I think it worked on all of those I’ve used.
I Say that I fully agree with comments about more missions with different durations, more variety of airports and so on. But I still have to understand the benefits of missions compared to free flights where I can decide everything … from planes to airports to duration. True that I do not have anyone one on board but listening every 30 minutes a doctor asking about “previous medical conditions” do not help as well to make things interesting.
I think people like to have a purpose, a feeling of doing an actual pilot job. And also have a sense of progression, earning money, reputation. Getting rewarded for doing things correctly, being penalised for making mistakes. There’s also wear & tear and damage modelling which you don’t get in free flight. And then there are things that are not really present in free flight, search and rescue, firefighting, parachuting, banner towing, crop spraying etc etc.
For me personally it’s about flying to places I would never fly to if I was just doing free flight. There are so many great locations in our world that I would never have flown to if it wasn’t for career modes.
Gotta agree with thesupercalle. It’s about purpose beyond what I choose for myself. Flying from and to locations that I didn’t choose, in weather I didn’t select, in a plane that requires regular maintenance to prevent system failures. You also have flight performance measures like passenger satisfaction or cargo integrity. Then the economy layer means that when you finally save up enough money for your dream plane, it feels earned.
For lots of people, just starting a free flight and flying to a place isn’t engaging enough long term. The career layer adds that extra engagement.
I think that mission over 1 hour is too long.
I do use accelerated time, but that is not perfect.
I would suggest being able to “jump” from one way point to the next (with Control N)… I would really enjoy modifying a London to Roma so that I could skip the travel to the mountains, then flying at level 110 to 120 while inside the mountains using wind and avoiding ice forming then skipping the rest of the travel to Roma before landing like a master… (ok dreaming on that last part
)
I like the end of mission scorecard, especially landing score.
If free flight did this i wouldnt touch this buggy mode
The money and fleet purchasing is a nice bonus of progression.
And no the 4simmers free flight landing pop up add on just doesn’t do enough and it was buggy
I agree with all of you and even if I don’t like it I fly missions all the time. They are honestly buggy when for example you fly to a runaway too short for the plane you have, or to a place by night VFR without lights, or with 40 knots at the arrival when you expected 3kn or when you start and before you begin the airplane has a malfunction, or ATC sends you first to 30000 feet and then descend to 2400 or when there are missions always back and forth the same spots while some areas are always unexplored…![]()
Probably they should give us some more exclusive award for our passion to career mode. I don’t know… a badge a pin to wear…something exclusive
