Career Mode Units of Measurement are Wrong

Career mode, for some reason, is using kilometers for distance and kilometers per hour for speed. If simulating a career in aviation, then it seems that the ICAO standard units should be used. The ICAO standard units for distance are the nautical mile, or sometimes, feet. For speed, the standard units are knots or mach.

I can understand that new users would be more familiar with the SI units, but since career mode is supposed to be about learning aviation, then it should teach aviation units. Additionally, the instruments in the aircraft are using ICAO units, so the user currently has to convert; which is probably confusing to new users.

Which specific screens, are you seeing these non-standard units? This isnt the case for me in Career mode. Perhaps you have a different setting in the language screen.

The whole notion of “units of measurement” needs a revamp. In the end it should boil down to two systems that should be available:

  • FAA for the US
  • ICAO for the rest of us

Yes, Russia and a few other countries deviate, so maybe a “custom” option where you can freely select units (as in the new EFB) would be appropriate as well.
