Career Mode - Weather, how does it work?

I’ve seen some different assumptions about how weather works after getting your IFR in career mode.

My assumption:

1. When you have the slider at live, you are getting the current live weather
2. When you slide the slider you get the weather at that time some time in the past based on where you put the slider

The meaning of red dot missions is a mistery to me. Originally I thought those were bad weather missions but when I click on them the missions are good weather. I didn’t see an explanation of the red dot. What do they mean? Is it somehow related to the weather?

The red dot means that mission actually is in live weather mode.

I only ever have very few career missions available with live weather. Just another immersion buster. Hopefully they make some changes.
