Careful - Velocity One suction tape is more like permanent adhesive

My desk is too thick for the clamps (that are, admittedly, quite roomy for most standard desks).
So I was delighted that they included the suction tape option. However, from using this kind of tape in other situations (and no indication to the contrary in the instructions), I assumed it was a temporary adhesive.
It turned out to be near impossible to remove the device and I was glad I didn’t use it on the quadrant module too. With incredible ongoing force from the short side of the adhesive, it eventually broke free - literally ripping up my desk finish on the one strip and destroying the other strip in the process.

I have found using a strip of removable wall tape ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YB1ZXG6/ ) cut into about a 1" square for the yoke side, and 2 x smaller 1/2" strips for the far side works - and covering the desk side adhesive with oily fingerprints to weaken the adhesive allows it to stick securely, while being able to still be removed with gentle seal-breaking force.

I think the supplied suction tape is way too much for removable use. Use caution! Either weaken the tape with dirt before first use or cut a smaller strip first to check.

Looks like it was designed for more permanent mounting. Thanks for the suggestion and link! You can get the tape off with lighter fluid, Just put it on and wait a few minutes and it will soften the tape enough to allow you to remove it. NO OPEN FLAMES while using it…

By the same token, Gorilla mounting tape is also very strong indeed. I have a roll of it, but thought twice and haven’t used it because of the same potential issue. We are used to tapes that don’t work well, but some of the modern stuff really is a semi permanent, or very permanent solution.
