Carenado Cessna 182 Q

I got it in 2020, here’s what it shows me in 2024:

Oof, that looks like it’s full price. Unfortunate.

Right. They call it “Upgrade” but it’s full price again.

I gave the startup of my 2020 purchased 182Q another try in 2024.

If I start on the runway or set a custom location “on ground and ready for take off” the aircraft is functioning normaly. Even if I power it down I can manualy restart it then.

Spawning at a parking spot still doesn’t let me start the engine, not from the tablet nor with Ctrl-E.

Anyway that’s good enough for me. I hope it’s at least like this with the F33A and the T210.

It starts ok for me. I give it four shots of prime with full rich and props and throttle full forward. Then crack the throttle 1/2 inch and go full lean. Turn starter and introduce fuel when engine catches.

That’s strange.

Just to make sure, you purchased the 182Q in 2020 and are able to start it in 2024?

If so I’ll have to find out what’s wrong with my setup in 2024.

No. I think that I purchased it in 2024. I didn’t even know that it is available in 2020. I have a different 182 in 2020. A Carenado I think - the 182T.

I found the problem.

Although my 182q comes from 2020 I have to remove (invisible) chocks and although theres nothing to be removed from the wing or the engine cover I need to do a “Quick Preflight” as it’s called in the controls menu.

So I assigned F12 to “Quick Preflight” and if I use it the engine will start. If I don’t, the engine does not start.

Also my C185F has the same problem in 2024. Maybe because I purchased it for 2020.

No other aircraft from 2020 has this problem in 2024.

If you assign the same key command to Quick Preflight as you use to get into the cockpit, it removes all covers and chocks as you get in. Quite handy.

I have 2024 PD installed but idle, so I should buy new stuff in 2024 rather than 2020? I was just looking at the new Bonanza too. I’ve really bought only a couple things in 2020 since 24 release, just been stacking the flightsim.to stuff deep, already own a ton. One of these days(years) I’ll switch to 24.

Thanks, that’s nice to know!

Hi all, I am thinking about buying the Carenado 182Q as my first payware add-on for MSFS 2020 on XBox Series S. I have never been disappointed with Carenado aircraft, at least back in the days when I was a FS2004 power user. However I do find the default C172 G1000 aircraft pretty good already and it is a lot of fun!
What are the main things that this aircraft does better than the standard C172 G1000 version? I see from the pictures that the Carenado aircraft obviously comes with GNS530/430 instead of a full glass cockpit of course, but what are the other aspects?
How do the visuals (cockpit and external) and performance (it’s key on XBox Series S) compare to the C172 G1000?
I am looking forward to your replies!

Does anyone else get this issue with the PMS gtn 750 ?

Hi kaha300d, I tried to contact Carenado support and ask if they were aware of this problem you posted on here, as I am thinking about also getting this aircraft. Unfortunately they apparently had not the time to respond during the last week. Did you buy the C182Q on MSFS2020 (which was released after the MS2024 version) and still have no access to C182Q in MSFS2024, i.e. you would have to buy it again?

Yes, I got it in 2020 after the 2024 version was out.

I have access to the 182Q in 2024. My problem was that I couldn’t start the engine. I then found that I have to do kind of the preflight walkaround procedure, although none of it was visible on the aircraft. After I assigned a button to “Quick Preflight”, pressing this button allows me to start the engine.

So, I can use the 2020 182Q in 2024.

However, to get the 2024 native version I’d need to buy it again.

Ok thanks for clarifying but what do you mean by ‘2024 native version’? Are you playing on PC and somehow porting the C182Q from MSFS2020 into the MSFS2024 folder? I am playing on XBox so I am unsure if I would have to buy the C182Q again if I switch to MSFS2024 in a few months.

If you bought it for 2020 you will have to activate it in “My Hangar” in 2024, then you can use it. But it’s the 2020 version still.

Then there’s the 2024 native version. This is an additional buy in the 2024 MP if you want to have it.

Ah okay but what are the differences then between the native 2024 version and the activated 2020 version in MSFS2024? I thought that both aircraft have exactly the same features, no matter in which marketplace you purchase it (2020 or 2024)?

I don’t know, I only have the 2020 version.
