Carenado King Air b200 2024

I’ve been flying this plane a lot and am definitely enjoying it! I think there’s a problem with the heat effect on the engines disappearing once you’re in the air though

Carenado Support has written to me to say that they are trying to fix this issue in a future update.

“There is no try. Do or do not”

I’m not sure I need this, but I sort of want it. I’m on a major turboprop kick lately. If I already have Black Square’s Dukes and Starship, as well as the default B350 and C90, do I really need this too?

I like it over the C90. Sounds are much better imo, hand flies great, overall one of Carenados better products

Maybe you need BKSQ’s Caravan Prof. instead?

It’s on my list for sure.

The issue with the condition lever has been resolved in the latest update.

I’ve tried it and it still doesn’t work. Can anyone confirm whether it works for them, and if so, which axis do I need to assign?

after the update, I’m still not getting the heat blur effect of the engines once I’m in the air. The effect is present during startup and taxi, but not airborne.

If you are looking from the pilot’s point of view, that is how it is in the real aircraft. In fact, the heatblur is only visible when the props are feathered and the aircraft is stationary and there is no wind. In flight they are only noticeable behind the wing, and maybe a little bit on the outer side of the nacelle, if the light or atmospheric conditions are right. It is not visible at all between the cockpit and the inner exhaust.

I didn’t know that, thanks for sharing! I retract my main complaint about this aircraft, sorry for doubting you Carenado!

I haven’t had time to try yet, but I would go with condition axis or mixture axis

Today’s update

B200 MSFS2024 version 1.0.4

May 25th, 2026

-- Significant improvements on MFD instrument.
– Improved sound effects
– Fixed the issue with Condition Levers Key bind
– Minor fixes on avionics

I am loving this update! The sounds are excellent! Thanks so much!

I agree the new update is amazing the new sounds are so aggressive and punchy, much better

still can’t map condition levers, after update.

i tried mixture axis, and condition axis, but no go.

Yeahh you can’t map on an axis or the axis mapping doesn’t work. I managed to map on the honeycomb bravo the cut off to the button of the cut off position, then map low idle digital to the same button with setting up by release, then map the condition lever to the digital condition to high idle and it works perfectly

Reading through this thread, I haven’t seen anyone mention the flawed Flight Director and AP engagement behaviour - I can’t be the only one bothered by this? It’s impossible to have the FD running without AP engaged, which I don’t believe is correct. The current behaviour doesn’t allow you to “fly the bars” manually.

You should be able to pre-select FD modes (HDG, NAV) to bring up the FD bars before engaging the AP, right? Also, when engaging the AP, the nose of the aircraft abruptly pitches down to level flight. Shouldn’t it hold the present pitch attitude of the aircraft when it was engaged? Makes it impossible to fly any kind of complex departure procedure on AP, as you have to manually pitch the aircraft to level flight, trim, then engage AP, then VS/IAS/CLIMB for your desired climb profile.

I haven’t flown the real aircraft, so I’m not 100% sure if the current behaviour is accurate. However even the manual for their FSX version of the aircraft describes how to engage the Flight Director without running the AP.

I noticed this too. I can’t test this right now as I am just about clock in for work but I vaugly recall being able to do it on another King Air with the same EFIS and AP. I will check once I get home.

Something else I noticed is that the GPS intergety annunciator is always on even when such a fault is not present.

yeah I think you’re dead one with regards to AP and FD
