Well, I’m confident Carenado aircraft purchased in 2024 will eventually be updated and working fine.
Those purchased in 2020 unfortunately may stay broken when used in 2024, however.
No, I purchased it in the MSFS 2020 marketplace before 2024 was released. I bought the C182RG II there also.
This is the reply I got from Carenado;
"Dear customer,
These are typical compatibility mode problems of products developed for MSFS2020 and used in MSFS2024, and we know that Microsoft is working on improving the compatibility mode. We recommend using these aircraft on the platform for which they were developed. Nowadays we are developing each product for both platforms independently to avoid these bugs.
Regards.
Carenado."
I hope Microsoft solves these compatibility problems.
“Solved” means it was dealt with in their Zendesk tool. It doesn’t mean the problem is solved. I haven’t ever heard a good reason for Zendesk to mark issues that have been moved to wherever they’re moved to as “solved”. It would have been much better if Zendesk created multiple choices for the bug reader to check based on the disposition of the bug report (duplicate, unreproducible, as designed, bug logged, I didn’t feel like dealing with it so threw it in the trash, etc.)
The lighting issues are known problems, and, as Carenado replied, are Asobo’s responsibility. Developers can choose to create workarounds, but, that means they’ll have non-standard code, and will likely need to undo the changes when Asobo eventually fixes the issues.
Is it working well for 2024?
It disabled by default
I use it in 2024 without problems.
The autopilot vertical speed is bugged.
Not on my side on the flight I just did…
Does anyone know if Carenado plans to update this aircraft for 2024? Ironically this is the only aircraft I’ve purchased from them in 2020 and one of the few that haven’t yet been updated since. Not only native 2024 features are missing but there are also some minor issues with it otherwise, like the autopilot functionality and the storm window modeling.
The only ones that can answer that with any knowledge is Carenado and they aren’t likely to address it. I have probably around 10 Carenado aircraft (2 were purchased for FS2024, the rest for FS2020). None of the FS2020 planes have had any attention from Carenado to bring them up to FS2024 standards. They seem more interested in creating a slightly different model and calling it a 2024 version so they can charge full price for it rather than updating the 2020 planes at no charge.
